Inside a new 110

Trax,
On a more serious note, I really respect your willingness to tear into the knives the way you have and with great success I might add. I'm afraid my own mechanical expertise and list of readily available tools makes those sorts of projects unrealistic. I sure get a lot of pleasure out of seeing your work though!

Does this mean that you're going to go a little easier on the Buck folks when you get a new 110 with loads of buffing goop inside? :D :D :D

There's a saying about Harley-Davidsons that applies to Buck knives as well...

"The last person on the Buck assembly line is the owner...and he has plenty to do!"... :D :D :D

Trax,

Can we talk????

When I use to get "hunnydos" it was..."take out the garbage"..."mow the lawn"..."paint the other bedroom"...etc., etc., etc. Now if your Honey is giving you those kind of hunnydos...what I need to know is...does she have a sister and when can I meet her????

Great work/post it's almost like I'm there doing it except no bloody knuckles, it's back together and looks teriffic. Preston

Trax,

Oh well, worth a try;)...you keep on with your hunnydos. Preston

I paid less than half that for mine. It may be worth that in another 20 years.

...or the drop point/clip point combo 110 when you get that developed...

You and Preston got me all discombobulated... :grumpy:

I know I want to do another dual blade on the 110 chassis...but I couldn't decide between a dual clip/drop point [110/426] or a dual drop point [426/422?]...so I've decided to make one of each!!! :D

I have enough parts to do one right away...The 2nd one will take some more eBay 110's...

Everything for the dual clip/drop point is on the bench being fitted...I should cut out the middle liner tomorrow, and start putting that one together...

"Yesterday, this days' madness did prepare"... ;)

wow quite a thread! most informative!~ you have the gumpion to do what i have been thinking of !!
i have on the other hand gotten to polishing on the balde... and have made a blade that to me was better then one buck does as i mill file the flats and sand the lines out of the hollow were buck leaves some and polishes over them mine come out smmmoooth and bright. i also tool a note from joe on buffing out a 560 an again mill the surface flat befor any thing else... looking good... have some ivory on a 112 nickel damascuss that i am doing some scrimshaw on for my brother ... and will post images of both later..

I like the "as ground" look... :)

I just finished the 2nd dual-blade 110...This one has a 110 clip-point blade and a 426 drop-point blade...It's all together and works fine; I'm just spending an hour or two coughing up a lung while buffing some scratches out of the bolsters...

I'll start a new thread for it when I get them scratches out... ;)

FWIW, they we're $59.95 from Smokey Mt. when they came out. I picked up 2 & glad I did. They're very high on the cool & unique scale.
