Introducing The 535 Bugout

That is definitely not correct. It appears it could be missing a phosphor-bronze washer. The blade is obviously canted and off center between the liners. If you purchased from an authorized dealer, they should exchange it. If not, you will have to send it back to benchnade for warranty service.
I am sorry for your poor experience. I have had pretty good luck with QC, but I have had to adjust pivots and center my blades. This seems typical and I can usually adjust or tune in a few minutes.

I got home from work and was looking at the knife again. Does anyone see what is missing? A quick shot with my iPhone, but I'm sure you can see it. Benchmade QC at it's finest....

Benchmade Benchmade You might want to take a look at this and get the code from the box to see who let this one slip through.

I just called the dealer and received the RMA # for a refund. I've decided that I don't want to deal with this knife anymore.
I have 2 940s and had to adjust the pivots and center the blades on both of them. I think that this knife will be my last purchase (and return) from Benchmade. I just don't see how this knife made it out of the factory. Disappointing.

Hate to hear your bad experience...but missing a bronze bushing, totally shocked that one made it thru their QC dept  I'm sure they will work to make it right for you though.

I can't believe that, either. I am returning the knife. There are a couple Spyderco knives that I'd rather have, anyway. I've never been disappointed with any of theirs. I own at least 20, and have never had a problem.

I hope Benchmade either reaches out to you, or more probably, reaches out to the retailer to see the code on the box to figure out who did that knife at the factory. That is a major error that should have never left the factory to begin with. Glad the retailer is refunding it with no fuss. Hope you have better luck with your Spydercos. We seem to have reverse luck of each other because all my Benchmades have been great, but I'm only batting 50% on my Spyderco purchases. My last Spyderco purchase and the only one I still own is a Pacific Salt with a warped tip of the blade. Since I carried it for a day before I really looked at it to realize the problem, I didn't feel like I could send it back to the retailer, and I don't think Spyderco customer service would do anything so I'm just living with it unfortunately.

Sad to hear about that. I've never had a bad Spyderco yet, but I guess it is bound to happen with any brand. It just seems like, to me, its more likely to happen with Benchmade products. That's how my luck has been. It's good to know you've received great knives from them. The two 940s that I have, after adjusting the pivots and centering the blades, have been fine.

I got to look at one of these the other day. I really like this....well, except for it being blue. If it comes in tan, olive or black, I will buy one in a second.

Thanks for this new resource Jimmy. If the frequency of warranty returns drops, that's good news to both BKC and that new customer buying a knife from the company. I hope this works for everyone involved.

That's pretty crazy right there! Never seen a washer completely missing before.

I should say that I happened by a local outdoor store today and finally snagged one of these for myself. It's absolutely perfect. Centered, no play, free dropping, evenly sharpened.... two washers. :D

And, just FYI, I didn't pick through a bunch of different ones and find the best. They had only one left, and it was on the money.

if I don't like the color on my knives I do the rit dye thing works great! Only takes 10 min or so, and shazam! a new knife.
