I do find it a bit expensive yes. But then it does come with a free toy so maybe its not such a bad deal after all. ;)

making knives here in Italy costs way more than in the US, gianni from Lion Steel can confirm this

My apologies I wasnt aware it was made in Italy, I know the Italian lifestyle is not cheap what with all that good wine and cheese and all. :D

the problem is not the lifestyle :) but the different way of working, small companies and high costs, in other countries like the us costs are usually lower so the end price is lower, we have troubles getting steel and machinery wich unfortunately drives costs up, Gianni and molletta may answer this better, i'm not affiliated of have vast knowledge about this

Lion Steel works well, the made the SR-1 (blade knife of the year)

I for one am glad the OP made this post in the General forum today. I wasn't aware of this knife and immediately knew I'd like to have it. It has been an interesting knife year.

Yep, looks like a winner. I only hope they don't have the skull logo, and that the blade has a coating (looks like it does..?). Also that the knife isn't limmited in production.

Anyone who complains is CRAZY. 175 for a Ti rotoblock framelock? I mean... really? Once I have this and the new ZT 550, I'll be set for heavy duty folders!

All's I'm saying is you can pick up a BM710 or Bone Collector with a 4 inch D2 blade for around $125 or much less if you shop around. And the Axis lock aint nothing to sneeze at. OK, granted those don't have a bottle opener and glass breaker..... :D

I completely agree. Besides, the company sure has a running reputation behind it. Compare this to an SNG at twice the price point, I think you're coming out on top. I know I'll be picking one up. It probably won't see as much pocket time as my SMF, but it's still pretty schveet! :D

I wish it was CPM-D2 and was at least 3.5" in blade length.
On the other hand, Lionsteel rocks.

Well if materials cost is the only consideration... Then the HEST blade is thicker, so the mass is probably similar. ...and the handle is titanium.

This looks cool but I'd honestly rather have the original fixed blade version as a survival tool. Folders are nice, but if I'm in a survival situation I'd feel much better having a stronger fixed blade.

Yea... and the extra money is easily attributed to the titanium... not to mention the 710 and BC probably couldn't handle half the stuff this thing could.
