I'm going to download Dolphin on my phone and give it a shot.

I also went in to my phone settings to find the checkbox toturn off mobile view for webpages, but I can't find it! I know I've seen it, and checked the box, but I'll be darned if I can find it again!

It's not in your phone's settings. It's in your browser's menu.

Can't find it.

I open the browser menu, and there isn't anyplace that says mobile view. I have somehting that says 'desktop view', which I have checked. I know I saw the 'mobile view' somewhere.

Also, I downloaded Dolphin, and Chrome, and neither would open the file from the website.

Do you have Flash installed on your phone?

You're doing it wrong.

Many (most?) websites these days have mobile versions, and as you said, they're usually stripped down for fast loading, and skinned for easy reading. But you're not required to only use the mobile version just because you're on a mobile device. I too prefer the full "desktop" version of websites, even if I'm looking at a 4.3" cell phone screen. All you need to do is toggle/switch to the desktop version...

I apologize for not being clear in my previous post, but the point I was trying to make is precisely that my Galaxy Tab 10.1 is effectively useless when attempting to interact with the desktop versions of Internet forums. The view of the page when browsing is fine, but posting is impossible. 'Reply with quote' often doesn't work and editing text in the reply box is a nightmare from hell as highlighting text is extremely sketchy, 'cut and paste' frequently isn't possible, there is often a long lag time between typing and seeing the letter appear and there are even many times when the cursor completely disappears.

I play with tablets all day every day since I currently work at Best Buy selling Computers, Tablets, and accessories for both. The Galaxy tab is a bit laggy. The iPad is by far the best constructed and with the best display. With iOS6 you've finally got access to Siri on the iPad and to top that off the Retina and quad core processor just make it a much more refined tablet. The closest competitor in my opinion is the Asus Transformer 700. It's nice and bright, fast, and has some things that the iPad lacks like expandable memory and the keyboard that snaps onto it which adds battery life, a full sized USB, and it folds up like a netbook. I personally like the Asus, but objectively speaking the iPad is the better tablet overall with more apps, better app quality, and a better build quality.

I have an Android phone (which I hate), and an iPad 3 and iPod Touch 4. I vastly prefer the user experience with ios. I find it to be smoother, more intuitive, and very reliable. The app selection is superior, especially on the game/entertainment fronts. The iPod is only slightly better than the phone at web surfing, but I prefer surfing on the iPad to even my PC. BFC works great, email works well, and icloud syncing is pretty reliable, if a bit expensive. I don't use my iPad for work, since much of what I do is classified, but there is a massive selection of productivity apps available.

I also like how commonplace ios is. Of my friends/coworkers with tablets, three have iPads, one has a Kindle Fire, and one has a Samsung tablet. Those without iPads tend to get left out because they don't have access to the apps that we do. Once again this is mostly entertainment/gaming related, but also applies to a couple productivity apps as well. I was not impressed by their tablets, and the samsung owner has expressed regret on not getting an iPad instead. The Kindle owner hates Apple with a passion normally reserved for the slayer of ones children, so while he complains about his Kindle, he would never switch.

As far as secure sites go, I really don't have any experience, so more research is needed.

After looking at the specs on the new Kindle Fire HD (8.9 inch version) it looks pretty darn impressive... especially when comparing it to the Ipad 3 that costs hundreds more.

The Ipad 3 has 10 (ten) more pixels per square inch. An insignificant number. The Kindle has a faster wifi connection along with better sound and one more speaker (1 on Ipad 3, 2 on Kindle). Couldn't find much on the processor for the Kindle, but it's expected to be clocked at 1.5ghz versus the Ipad 3's 1ghz. Ram is the same. Front facing camera on the Kindle while the Ipad 3 has a front and rear facing (people use a tablet to take pictures?)

My ASUS transformer prime is definitly a better product than my sister-in-laws Ipad2 (It was the latest and greatest for Christmas '11) I believe that makes it an Ipad2. The new Ipad is probably better than the transformer prime as they leep frog each other like most technology. It is very stable. I use Officesuite pro and it works very well. The Galaxy tab is a bit older tech but both it and the ASUS are less expensive than the new Ipad.

I managed to snag my daughters Iphone today, and try it on the secure websites.

It worked perfectly.

I'm thinking it must be an issue with Android, so I submitted a ticket to tech support.

I still want to try one of the Android tablets out, and see if one will work, but I'm leaning towards an Ipad.

Ive noticed the blackberry playbook wasnt included. Ive had an Ipad 2 and sold it. Yes there are alot of apps but as far as best bang for your buck the playbook is a steal. The thing is great for work purposes. I can type out documents on the go or while im at work and print them as soon as I walk through the door without emailing . I still have a few apps I enjoy and some movies as well but for 200 -250 you cant go wrong. Playbook>Useful Ipad>fun

Anything but an ipad, unless of course what you want is a blown up ipod touch with no additional functionality. I've had really good luck with my Asus transformer prime (transformer pad infinity I believe is the current version). Either way, make sure you get something with a quad core processor, ideally 2 gigs of ram, and running android 4.1 or higher.

Mine is working just fine. I use it more than my desktop. My only complaint is since the last update I no longer have flash.

It was my understanding that Blackberry discontinued the Playbook, so I didn't consider it. I'm not a huge Blackberry fananyway. I carried one for a year, and I frisbee'd the thing more than once.

The Ipad seems to be the standard. I just read a Consumer Reports test, and th Ipad rates number 1, with The Galaxy Tab 3rd in line. Don't recall # 2.

I'd like to get my hands on a Nexus 7 to try out, but it looks like it is only available fron the Google Play store. It is the right size to carry on a daily basis.

Yeah, I'm not sure where you'd be able to try a Nexus 7 out in person. Best Buy doesn't sell them. All you might be able to do is find a Tab 7.0 or similar, and just assume the Nexus 7 is close enough.

Did you try what I suggested in your other thread regarding pop-ups?

If you were considering a New iPad (iPad 3), don't. Wait until next month, and get the iPad 4. Double the processing power (apparently), better front facing camera, same prices.

As for the iPad Mini...forget it. 1024x768 (162 pixels per inch) resolution for $329/16gb? What a joke! For $200 you'll be able to get a 16bg Nexus 7, or a 32gb for $250, and has a much higher PPI at 216. Unless you're dead set on IOS and the apps you can get for it, but can't handle the larger size of a regular iPad, then the iPad Mini is way too little for way too much.

I was holding out to see what the iPad mini was going to cost.

Looks like the Nexus 7 is it.

I'm going to have to take a leap of faith; no Staples stores anywhere close.
