Iron Dirk by Bruce Bump

That's like THE perfect knife to carry around. I've drooled over many of Bruce's fixed blades, but this is the first traditional model I've seen made by him.

I'm just assuming that is your Damascus Bruce! Is that true??

Yep I made it myself. Mini "Feather" I call it.

Thanks for all the kind responses guys!

Bruce,in the pictures of the WIP,the parts,is that the Damas steel blades before an etching process ?
TIA for your response
Absolutely beautiful!

Incredible! If Mr. Bump's specialty isn't slipjoints, I would love to see what he does specialize in because he really didn't a fantastic job on this "side project"!

Well, here's one of the things he does when he decides to stop screwing around and make something :D

And while I can't say that he specializes in them, one of his specialties are various amazing cut-n-shoots - and yes, it all works (it's a folder too)

You need to check out his site for more. He's done some amazing WIPs on building these cut-n-shoots also.

Thanks Vince.
Yes the damascus is sanded to 2000 grit and etched for about 2 hours in a weak solution of ferric cloride and rain water. Makes for slow even etch and lets the pattern show up well. The pivot holes and tang contacts need to be painted with nail polish to resist the etching and allow for smooth blade movement.

He does a fantastic service for the Pirate community with objects that stab and shoot. :D

Thanks Vince.

I'm sure this isn't a newsflash for most of you, but Bruce is also a real nice guy.

Specs from Bruce:

These blades are 59 rc and the springs are 50 rc. The feather is 1095/15n20 and the springs are 1084. Closed 3 15/16, half stops on the blades.

Man, really nice!

Right up there with the other knives I've seen you post here.

Bruce, you are a true artist.

Wow Mike, anybody who gets a Bruce Bump knife is a very lucky person. What a superb and unique folding knife. I bet the knife more than 'speaks to you', but sings Opera like Pavarotti.
I have folder #007 and will never part with it.
Thanks for showing us (how could you not) and congratulations to Bruce: Artist, Knifemaker and Gentleman.
