Is it me? re: net sales...

Asking the buyer to pay your fees is in violation of PayPal's rules. As is asking F&F for a business transaction.

You are probably a stand-up guy/gal, but my general rule is if someone is willing to cheat PayPal, who's to say they won't be willing to cheat you?

It's your right to spend your money where you choose. I would however say that my 100 or so customers on here who have left me 100% feedback would view it differently. Anyways that's all I have to say about this subject. It's just a whine fest and I wana be no longer a part of it. Spend your money where and how you will. I will continue to say NET and sell my items. Choose or not to buy it doesn't matter cause the mortgage will still get paid 😁

It seems pretty common any more. Folks just wanting a bit more without coming right out and stating it. I have had purchases where the seller asked, nicely, if I'd mind throwing in enuf to pay for the fees and shipping. Reminds one of someone who is almost "cheating." Does not make for a friendly transaction.

Spot on......

yep. the net thing almost insults that we are too stupid to realize once we add the 3.x%, the price is higher. reminds me of the only $3.99 rather than 4 bucks. only a fool doesnt realize its 4 bucks, but i guess there are lots of fools out there as i see it done still.

This is hitting it perfectly..
As stated NET TO ME
I simply move along and ignore their
sales post...
100 customers 100 positive feedbacks has nothing
to do with trying to hustle a few bucks from a company
PayPal that provides a service..

But as has been said...Different strokes for different folks..
Great topic again...

These threads are funny to me. None of us here are friends or family when talking about paypal. However, the minute that somebody is caught making a profit we're all supposed to be "brothers" in the bladeforums "family" and not try to make money off one another. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...the-knife-for-a-profit/page2?highlight=profit

So are we brothers and sisters or are we a bunch of distrusting members who should never pay using the gift option?

How about this...use common sense. If it's a new member without much feedback, then don't use the gift option. If it's somebody that you have done 30 deals with and have their number programmed in your phone, then the gift option is probably ok to use. For everything in between, use your brain. I also find it funny that the people who act like they won't deal with another member asking "net" are the same members who almost never buy anything from the exchange.

Hey I just posted something for sale in the Gadgets & Gear section. The price is net to me. Anyone who is in here whining about it is welcome not to buy. All others add 3.5% or send it as a gift. Thanks

I think it's telling that of all the people who have posted in this thread so far, the only person defending "net to me" also happens to be the only person here who is on my "ignore" list. I don't remember how City74 got on it originally, but it looks like there's no reason to be taking him off any time soon.

Different views...Different sales ethics..
Just a vast variety of folks in here that do what they
do to get what they want..

I guess if one BF member is willing to pay the extra fees
It is what it is.. I just choose not to be one of them

Everyone have a Great 2017

I don't like the "net to me" threads either, but what I dislike even more is what's currently happening over on the porch section of Bladeforums. Many of us were waiting for a chance to get the new GEC TC Barlows...and hey, some us didn't get one, no big deal...but then there are those who did get one (or multiples) for the sole purpose of flipping them for 2-4 times the initial retail...and to boot, some still add the laughable, "net to me" to their exaggerated prices.

I won't do f&f or net to me. I pay for my purchases with PayPal, so they translate to the same thing for me.

As far as price gouging on the traditionals is concerned, I just add those sellers to my ignore list.

I'd never buy from a "net to me" seller, for a couple of reasons. First and foremost is the implicit willingness of the seller to accept F&F. It's been beat to death but the fact remains that if you're willing to rip off PayPal, you're willing to rip me off too. Integrity is not situational. Second, I'm not doing your freaking homework for you. Tell me the "all in" price you want for your knife. Lastly, 90% of the time, the "net to me" sellers ask for more in fees than PayPal is charging them. Not happening.

I'm preaching to the choir here. You guys have covered every pertinent point clearly.

PayPal fees, shipping fees, even credit card fees are all 'The cost of doing business'. Any sales transaction is business, whether you personally are a hobbyist or not.

Those ardent members who must pound their chest and create a price, then declare 'net to me' are missing the opportunity to WOW someone with a one-stop great deal: One Price - To Your Door! :)

That's good business and good community. I don't look at that price and say "Hey, it should be $15 cheaper", (but I'll pay all the costs.... )

Buyers are impulsive. 90% of the knives sold are unnecessary purchases. Give them ANY stumbling block and you lose an opportunity.

I don't buy much, but when I sell, I give one price. If you are nickling and diming to the point where ten bucks gain or lost is impactful, you are doing it wrong. :(

Hobbies are supposed to be fun with community, and business is supposed to be honest with building clients satisfaction.

'Net to Me' forfeits both.

There are plenty of valid reasons to stay away from net to me threads. I pass every time.......except once.
My son fell in love with a Kershaw Knockout on the Exchange. $45.....net to me. Ugh.
At the time, it wasn't in stock anywhere in the color combo he wanted.
Ok, I add 3% and send the funds........I got 3 e mails from the seller demanding an additional $0.29. Really?? I found out it's 2.9% + $0.30.......think that's right. Told the seller to stuff it and return the cash sent.
Just list the friggin price you want.

:D:eek:
Totally hilarious Joe...please send me a PM with his name so I can send him .50 via gift for you...inflation ya know!

One thing I hate about "net to me" is that, as a buyer, it's difficult to determine in advance what all the Sellers costs are (PP, shipping company, insurance, delivery confirmation, etc.). That makes it hard to set a firm price without a lot of back-and-forth.

For some it's easier to ignore than except defeat. Most of y'all can stay on here and bitch and whine and moan about a guy trying to get fees covered on something he is selling and I will just carry my happy ass off to the forums and sell my stuff as I always have and get good feedback in the process. If ya don't like it then fuck ya 😁
