Is it weird that two people just sent me the same pics?

I've had a couple "different" people offer me trades for my custom DDC SMF, but "both" people have sent me the same pictures of a Chris Reeve Umnumzaan. The guy, who I believe is one in the same, sent me a picture of a lightly used CRK 'Zaan and a couple pictures that I think I've seen before of SMF's and XM-18's, all of which he's offered to trade me for my DDC. I looked up him, his username on BF is Soccer and Iainfm. Idk if it's the same person, but I'd be curious to see if a mod could run an IP address on both usernames and see if we have a scammer in our midst.

Wow, sounds like a scammer and not even a very bright one.

That's what I thought. He's an unregistered member on both accounts, tho has two positive feedbacks on the iainfm username. I'm not sure what to think, but why would an honest person need two accounts?

Sounds more like one of them is using stolen pix to get you to trade for a knife he doesn't own. Has one of them posted those pix somewhere?

If you want the trade insist on receiving his knife first. If he refuses then trust your gut instincts and don't trade.

I bet a scammer could probably set up several forum ID's from different IP addresses and give himself positive feedbacks for trades that didn't happen.

Can't help with the identity but a simple fix to see if the knife is in their possession is to get them to take a new picture holding the knife in a special manner with a paper/writing on their hand that you choose, that way they have to manipulate it to your satisfaction. Something like: "I would like you to hold it in reverse grip with your ring finger extended and a smily face drawn on your thumb." If it was me trading such expensive knives I would think nothing of assuring the other party. And if you hear nothing back.......

Now I'm confused. Why would a guy use two different accounts to make trade offers for the same knife? Is he bidding against himself? Is this an ongoing negotiation and he forgot which account he's using?

Okay, thanks Esav, I figured as much. I talked with WRT about these guys too. The aliases they're going by are Iain Mellis and John Forbes. This is definitely a scam. Cougar, I would expect it's so he doesn't draw too much attention to himself. Not a very inventive scammer, but I think if people didn't look deep enough, they would think the "reference" is legit.

Esav can you do anything about banning? I thought it was a no-no on most forums to have multiple accounts and this reeks of a scam. They're definitely stolen photo's that they're using to try and entice people to "trade" with "them".

Thanks for checking this one out Esav, I talked with WRT and we both think its a scam, I want to know what you think.

Huh. Well that's a little queer (as in odd). Came across this thread a couple days ago and have been following it for a while. Iainfm seems to have changed his "About Me" information and only shows his location now. His interests no longer include soccer.

Also, iainfm and soccer logged out of their accounts at 21:14 and 21:15, respectively.

i noticed that he changed his "about me" yesterday. odd indeed.

I'll post more details when I have time, but for the time being here are the aliases & e-mail addresses they used in the attempted trade with me:

soccer called himself John Forbes and used e-mail address 101ilovesocer@gmail.com. I noticed that it was different that the ilovesoccer@gmail.com address he had posted in another thread.

He had his "boss/friend" send me a reference. That's where iainfm came in. He called himself Iain Williams and used the address iainfwilliams@gmail.com.

I'd beware of both of these. I'll happily retract this if they can prove themselves legitimate, but I'll be surprised.
