Is the Calypso III the best Spyderco yet?

Yes the best Spyderco ever. Until now, nothing could match my beloved Calypso Jr in laser like cutting. Enter the Caly, it's a Jr with heft and that grippy G10. It's my lite sabre.

Maybe you guys could help me. I am trying to pick between the Caly III (better looking and better clip) or the Mini Manix (S30V). I am a steel nut and I want to get my hands on S30V (I don't like the Native!). Somebody push me either way!

With pleasure mate:

1) The practical difference between the steels is so small it barely matters - but we knife nuts are about the miniscule distinctions after all so;

2) I prefer VG10 over S30V for a small/medium edc. It is easier to get freakin scary sharp and it holds it's edge for plenty of time and use. I get more pleasure out of using and sharpening my Caly3, D'Allara and Temperance than my S30V Native and Military (although the Military is my knife of choice on long adventures for it's all round utility and light weight)

so if you prefer ther Caly3 and you are letting the type of steel hold you back - I wouldn't.....and if it did come down to steel for me I'd choose VG10....make sense?:)

I say both of those steels are equal, Ive get the caly III and the lil temp with s30v and both do the same thing. the only steel I will try to stay away from is 440c cuz it always chips on me. So really you should be choosing by the looks, ergonomics and if you want a good smaller edc (cally) or a tank that is just beefier and larger, to withstand more of a beating and have more chopping power. Cuting power is probably equal. I dunno.
Its al up to you, but i would fo for the mini manix for sure.

If you like the ergonomics of the caly III but would like S30V you can go for the UKPK. You won't have a backlock though.

That is what killed the UK for me. I wanted one badly but no lock made me wonder. I knew the Caly III was comming out so I just waited and I was glad I did. One thing I wonder is, does the UK open harder since it is a slip joint and has to battle the back spring or is it still pretty easy to open?
