Is the Shirogorov market getting soft?

I don't understand how this thread got so crazy about 10k full customs.

Are shiro production models slightly over priced? Yes
Are the obserdly over priced? If you buy on the lower end no. IMHO Compared to 400$ sebenzas they are indeed nicer knives, better fit and finish, better blade materials, better actions, finer details (T patter, backspacers etc.)

At some point sure why pay 300$ more than a sebenza ok, but why pay 200$ more for a sebenza than a bench made, spyderco, cold steel. I know for a fact there are plenty of knives that will meet all our needs at much lower prices.

I don't see what the big deal is? You pay the monies, you cut open your boxes;)

I have to agree with others in here, no matter how loudly I scream at a car show that my 2016 Lexus GS that I paid $70,000 for is the best car ever it just doesnt change the fact that it's not and I overpaid for it. Like many others have said, these knives aren't by one of the late greats they're just a passing fad. In ten years no one will know Shirogorov from that random dude at Spyderco workstation #12 who puts the pocket clips on."

I think that's a pretty bold statement to say no one will know who Sergy Shirogorov is in ten years. Maybe no one who is in the knife world. I am not gonna rant and rave like some people. But Shirogorov knives are amazing. I hope they do go down in price so I can buy more.

Yes, Shiro prices have softened. Not enough for me to buy another because the $700 Shiros are $400 knives.

I don't have nearly the nice knives that some others have around BF, but I do have one Shiro. It's an older Tabargan. Although it's a very nice knife, it's only on par with some other very nice $300-500 knives I have.

Fanboi is a bad thing to be. You tend to discredit any actual knowledge you might have and downplay what otherwise is a nice knife.

When Shiros cost what they're worth, I'll probably buy one.

Haha, you go and pay for $400 for a brand new Shirogorov, or you sell me for $400, I will buy as many as you have. Remember, this forum is for Fanboys, normal people won't spend $100 on a knife

At this point, what this thread is really about is that this guy spent $30,000 on some knives, and we're all beneath him.

$30,000 on knives, that's adorable. Our paid-for rental properties alone bring in...know what, nevermind. This guy won't get it and I'm not a braggart.

The fact that he thinks he's the only one of means here is laughable, is all I'll say. In fact, this thread is almost certainly headed for the lockdown, so I'm outta here. This guy can go back to being a chestbeater on USN, that seems like it's where he belongs.

Reading your posts here have lowered the collective IQ of this board by a few points, so it's only fair.

Then don't read, no one point a gun at your head and force you to read lol. What a joke.

This thread has gotten out of control. The guy has some nice knives but everyone tastes are different. If He can see the value in them then who cares if someone else can't who cares. That's what I have gotten from custom knife collecting. Some people will pay 7,000.00 for a Michael Burch do I think it's worth that? No but 20 other people did when I watched the auction.

The problem is the superiority complex he came here with to show his knives, the outlandish statements he has made (know all the factories in China lol), and calling out other members who don't agree with him. Other members btw that have and actually hard use custom and very expensive knives. Of course, if he would participate meaningfully here he would have seen pictures from said people of said knives. Bb has hundreds of pics of hard used high end knives.

You can't just walk in, brag a bunch, make a bunch of stuff up, and start insulting people over stuff you know nothing about. That will never work out well here.

Haha, in before the lock.

Thanks for the thread soccerman, it's been entertaining. I have to ask though, is your real name boris?

Listen I like BB. But I don't understand how paying 800$ for a rockstead is ok but it's not for a shiro? Same differnace. Why is a thorburn l51 ok but a m390 95T overpaying. I have owned them all there in no clear difference and they will all perform on par with a triad lock cold steel recon 1, bench made 710 or spyderco paramilitary. What's the problem here.

That is not what he is saying. Slow down and read. He is saying the knife that costs $700, if it were another brand it would be $400. The extra cost is because of the current market. You know, what this thread is about......

I actually sold a well used production 95 here on BF.
I don't use the sergey full custom, but it has the ability to be a great tactical knife , not a art knife, not a AKI knife.
no matter I use it or not, the fact is , it is a great tactical knife.
BTW, I don't think sergey will care any ads here, the demand is much higher than supply.

"Well used"? Really?

When you were selling it, it was "slightly used" and had "never been sharpened."

I bet you definitely don't have a job.

Isn't misleading or intentionally not describing a knife accurately an infractionable offense?

Yea I agree. No one wants to hear how much you spent on something and call people jealous. This guy is acting like a clown and needs to take a step back. I understand he spent a lot on his knives and they are important to him but that does not mean anyone else thinks they are. I think he went off the deep end because how much he spent and then people saying the market is going down means his knives are worth less. Is the only reason I could see him blow up on everyone.
I personally am a Fanboy of Shirogorov's, but I am also a fanboy of CRK,Striders,Benchmade's,spyderco,Hinderers, curtiss knives,... pretty much all knives I have had good experience with .

Oh, give me a break, my knife has all the pictures, and the buyer was extremely lucky to get a $700 for less than $550, there were more than 10 people asked me to buy this knife after I closed the thread

The context of that sentence made it clear I meant his knives. I sincerely think he will be one of the other 1,000 makers producing overpriced man jewellery that no one will no of in ten years. Despite what some might think he isn't doing anything that seventy other makers arent. He hasn't designed a new locking or opening system, no new breakthroughs in heat treat or materials, dude probably does make an awesome knife for what it is, I don't doubt or dispute that I just don't think people are going to be clamoring for a vintage Shirogorov like a Loveless or a Terzuola or one from Tony Bose.

No break. You lied when you sold the knife. Which is unacceptable. Or you lied when you told us you used the knife. One or the other.

And you sold a $700 knife for less than $550. Hence the market is soft.

Then sell a $500 Shirogorov to me !
And get a job!

He probably makes the highest quality production knife on the planet right now. Not a fact but not outrageous either.

That's also a little bit like saying Julio jones or AJ green are bad receivers just because they will never be as good as Jerry Rice.

So you deliberately tried to decieve the buyer of the knife, or deliberately lied to us. Which one?

And why did you sell a $700 knife for less than $550 when the maker is not soft?

Anything? Answers? Or just attempts at character defamation, and/or calls for us to follow you on IG?

If he doesn't have a job, how would he have a Shiro to begin with?

What's the saying about a fool and his money?

I never called for anyone to follow my IG, I said "if you want" and I definitely will block the basement dweller
