Hello All Seniors,

I am new to this forum and would like to post my 1st content inquiry about the tip.

I purchased a knife online, and just get it on hand. (The brand might famous)
I found the tip is so...round or say blunt.
But since I am new to knives, may I have your opinion about the tip?

Do you think it is a defect and should be returned to the dealer for a replacement?
IMO it is quite not acceptable:

Thanks

EDIT:
I would like to add the picture of the whole knife:

2nd EDIT:
It seems Grohmann just sent a replaced one to me from the factory. I will keep the post updated once receive the new one. (15 Sep, 11:07AM (ADT) )

Final Edit:
After several rounds communication, I received the replaced knife, although this one is better than the first one, but like someone here mentioned, I also belive it's a repair job from other knife.

I will never by the Grohmann Knives online.
They may pick knife with issues, and the replacement is quite hard.
I won't tell how they told me they've sent my knife on last Friday but actually the item was accepted by Canada post this Monday after I raise a inspection ticked.
I won't tell how the told me they will call Canada post and call me back but never.
I won't tell it's hardly to get their response by email.

The service is not good, although the product may good.
So, if you need a grohmann knife, go physical dealer, but not online.
That's my personal experience just for your information.

Thanks all of you for all the inputs

You can post a direct link to the image, if it is hosted on a web site somewhere.

You can use a photo hosting site such as Imgur.com to upload an image from your computer to that site, and then post the link here.

You can not directly upload an image to this site unless you have one of several paid memberships.

Thank you for your inputs.
I think the image can be displayed well now

Yes. We can see the image now.

I agree with you, Dextar. That tip does not look like it was properly finished.

The tip being acceptable or not really depends on the overall blade shape and the intended purpose. Some sheepsfoot knives, which that appears to be at first glance, don't have a particularly pointed tip and instead essentially just have a long edge that terminates at the end of the blade.

If the knife is pictured in the stock photos as having a pointier or significantly different tip, then you should send it back for a replacement if you are dissatisfied with it.

EDIT: Nah, looked at it again. That doesn't look quite right to me.

Thanks and I just cannot believe this is what the brand produced. Or I doubt their quality assurance.

If you think it is proper, will you share with us the brand name and model of knife?

The problem is I am going to leave this country and purchased this as a gift.
I just returned it to the factory with high deliver fee since I am going to leave in several days and hopefully it can be replaced before my departure. (I doubt they will only fix it but not replace)

I have no idea whether it is proper or not, but if it is OK, I would say this is #1 from Grohmann.
Please let me know if anyone consider disclose the brand is not appropriate.

I'd be ok with it. Now it may be unacceptable to others, but what's your time worth? Communicating with the seller/manufacturer, packing, shipping, waiting... waiting... waiting... shipping back, bla bla.

Or just reshape the tip to your liking and resharpen. You could have it done in 30 min. If you don'k know how then what better time to learn ;)

I know you should probably get it fixed by the vendor. But when this kind of stuff happens to me I inform the vendor, but I just take care of it myself and get to using the knife.

It is appropriate. We often discuss brands by name, even when pointing out their defects.

Grohmann is a good brand of knives made in Canada. They should be able to repair or replace your knife for you.

It's fine to name the brand model and whatnot

I have seen knive with tips that are designed that way. The spyderco Pacific salt is sort of similar to that. At least the two I've seen are.

I agree with you and it seems your input: packing, shipping, PAYING DELIVER FEE, waiting.... they are all right.
I can make it to vendor to fix it, but I want to it replaced but not fixed.

It is a gift I am going to give as a sign of Canada, so I purchased it, but I never expected the result when I opened the box.

So I just post the content here and have a discussion. Since I am not really satisfied about the quality assurance of the brand
