Is the tip acceptable?

It doesn't look right to me......at all.
We really need some more info though. If it is a budget blade, < $65, I'd probably keep it. Over $100, it's going back.
Come on Dextar.......fess up!
Joe

For reference, this is the image on the manufacturer's web site. The point in Dextar's image looks to have not been finished properly at the factory.

Thanks for your input.
You are right, that's the reason why I purchased it, I want to give as a gift and a sign of Canada.
But I never expected the result of the product.

Last time I purchased another one, with something wrong of handle, when I returned back requsted a replacement, they just fixed it and told me mine was better than what they were having...

I believe you understood my feeling, purchased a new knife as a gift, but defects found and the new one is fixed, but not replaced.
It feels like I purchased a second-hand one, and paying additional delivery fee... T_T

It is appropriate. We often discuss brands by name, even when pointing out their defects.

Grohmann is a good brand of knives made in Canada. They should be able to repair or replace your knife for you.

It costs CAD$260, since I ordered the one with special handle material and sheather.
The knife itself costs about CAD$105

It doesn't look right to me......at all.

You are right, I also took a look at their website, and I went to some physical shop to check, too.

If you bought it new from dealer then yes return/replace it.

However, if by saying online meaning like a forum and such and you paid a fair price then its OK if listed as such and you were aware.

I purchased it from Grohmann's knives official website.
That's why I cannot believe what it looks like

I understand. When giving a gift that has significance, you want it to be perfect. It is disappointing when you get a poor sample. You are visiting Canada and will be returning home to Asia soon?

Return it.
I would call and be very courteous.....you'll get better results....explain the situation to them.
I have had a manufacturer pay for shipping after receiving a knife that wasn't right out of the box.
Good luck!
Joe

It doesn't matter it is a gift or not, even it is a tool I am going to use myself, I don't believe the quality is acceptable. It is not "perfect" or not...
You are right I am going back soon. But how you can see I am going back to "Asia"? :P

Yes, I've returned it with a letter of explanation. And dropped an email to them too.

Last time I asked the replacement because of handle issue, they returned to my by mail withouth charging additional fee, although I paid the fee to the factory for replacement.

Thanks for your inputs.

Return it.

Don't know who they are but if its an official dealer that gets their product directly from the manufacturer then return it ASAP or ask for replacement if you feel comfortable. Make sure you read their return policy also.

Your first post was addressed to "Seniors" - which is a sign of politeness and respect used in many Asian cultures when addressing people with more experience in an area. I am somewhat familiar with Korean culture so I immediately thought of the word 선배님 - "seonbaenim" - though I know the same custom is used throughout many other Asian cultures.

Grohmann is the manufacturer. He bought it directly from the manufacturer's web site.

I believe you made a wise decision to return it. I hope that you get the replacement back in time before you have to leave.
