Is the Umnumzaan market finally saturated?

A year ago Umnumzaans were getting bought up in seconds on the secondary market for prices well above retail. Lately I’ve seen them several at a time on the exchange, for retail of less hanging around for days or longer and still not selling.
 
I'd have to find one in Ti to fit my bill of weight requirement. I did notice Magnacut on Cr's site but wasn't seeing it on the second hand market, then looked at lead times for CRK and about fell over. I'm going over to Monkey Edge later today to take a good look at the line up. Hopefully they have what they have on the site on hand and not 'We can order that for you and show you pictures. You'll get it in 6 years'.
 
Part of the slow down is probably the combination of changing blade steels and increasing prices.
S35Vn is now the dented can on the shelf for many...even though they're not going to use the knife for anything other than a few pictures and some fidgeting.
Many were taking advantage of the low availability at dealers by charging full retail (and more). Now that the dealer price has gone up, everybody tacked on that extra $50 even if they didn't pay it. A tanto umnumzaan is still on the list of knives I'll probably try at some point...but I don't want one enough to pay full retail for secondhand; and I'm definitely not paying via PPFF.
 
Well, don't know if it affects knife buying as I see 1K plus knives fly off the shelves fast, but we are essentially in a recession. At least a bear market. Maybe other BF members don't have to watch their money, but I certainly do.
 
On the exchange here they are popping up more frequently but on the secondary I am still seeing them well over MSRP and in short supply. Knifeart had some that sold out before I even got the notification. The MEFP that dropped a couple weeks ago are long gone also.
eBay is always over MSRP but there's a few there.
I check about a dozen sites daily as I am in the market for a dp zaan but want it new, unopened.
Not seeing a surplus or increase here .
 
The funny thing is I've been putting off getting CRK for years, even though I've wanted a tanto Umnumzaan and Inkosi since forever. First it was the S35VN blade hardness. Then I was going to wait for S45VN. Now I'm waiting on Magnacut. Might be years before I actually get one.
 
If I had to guess it’s a combination of people waiting for Magnacut and also the $50 price increase recently.
 
If I were to guess and that is all it would be, it is a combination of factors.
1. Desire for magnacut
2. Recession and inflation affecting disposable income.
3. Getting over the initial shock of the manufacturers timeline, and those in a panic having filled their needs.
It is likely availability and prices will go through cycles. Sometimes available at good prices and other times extremely hard to find and you have to pay or miss out.
 
I've also seen Inkosis and Sebenzas hanging around retail websites for days, rather than minutes. Not quite the lazy days of 2019, when you could buy whatever you want on your own terms, but it's different now. There will be another bubble with magnacut versions.
