Is there anything better than the ZT 0920

Wait, are you saying ZT won't be announcing any new models at Shot?
Lol another guy got into alot of trouble as he said something he shouldn't have about their lineup for shot show. They have managed to keep it almost completely quiet and I can understand it as they have copies of their knives flowing from our Asian counterparts probably before ZT gets a chance to stock them at the retailers.

As I'm thinking about it, maybe he just meant they will announce at Shot, but the actual release of the knives will be later this year. Which would make sense. Even as it toys with out lack of patience. :D

Me too, I have more ZT knives than any other brand. Been patiently (read anxiously) waiting myself.
I only have the 620cf which I really like but I also like having a flipper tab on my framelock knives as a protective piece as I always want to get them dialed in a bit too smooth and have had my thumb split open a few too many times!! Takes long for those cuts to heal;)

It kills me a bit in the inside!! I always think back on the south park episode where cartman froze himself waiting for the Nintendo to be released, it's almost that bad :D

I feel like I've looked through so many knives but can't find anything that competes with the ZT but maybe there are some that I haves missed.
Nothing like jumping into a thread where I don't belong but I'm trying to wake up.
'sides this thread is in serious lack of pics.

For me the 0562CF is lacking sculpting to the scales that the 0920 has in abundance. The carbon fiber is going to be significantly lighter and warmer in the hand.

Why not both ? . . . I mean those other guys do it . . . and I saw a nice fixed here the other day with sculpted carbon fiber handle.

Thick in the pocket but that's why I use a belt pouch for some of my favorite handled knives. In fact I just finally got around to soaking my Buck 110 pouch in water and letting it dry around the plastic wrapped knife . . . bout time . . . only took me thirty years to get around to it (and two days to dry).

That Rubicon is a piece of art, so it the mamba and the nivana. I wish that spyderco would do them justice and take time to develop each one of them to their maximum potential but most of the great knives only have one run.

How do you know this? Curious about your info source.

Usn forums. Funny how they try and keep it secret. So annoying.

Anyways I didn't say nothing. But I don't know what they will have. Zt styles aren't for me anymore until they start making less Tacticool and thick behind the edge flippers. They are amazing knives and I have a bunch and like them for what they are.

If only the rubicon had a better looking blade shape and i hope one day spyderco stop a putting holes in blades that don't need them.

They can't stop using them as it's actually their logo as far as I understand, if they didn't use the hole they could be taken to court to have the restrictions on their property rights removed, something I learnt recently so could also be incorrect

Yes that's true.
But I'm not saying it could replace your 0920; probably too small to start with.

Have a look at the BöKER hitman, it's not in the same league but has quite a similar overall design and actually has decent steel on their lower end model

Give the Spyderco hole a chance. You'll love it. I didn't like the look before I got one.

Besides round holes in blades are cool . . . tiny round holes are a sign of ultra cool; dare I say "operator coolness". SURELY you saw my 940 ! I removed the thumb stud and let my freak flag fly . . . wearing the round hole naked for all the world to see.

(you know I'm fooling around right ?)

Lloooolll, I used to have a benchmade skirmish, the large one. Too many holes can also be a bad thing as is many cases in real life!!:D

I agree, if you can't find a comfortable grip on the Manix you have some seriously weird hands. It's comfortable and secure just about anyway you hold it.
Just to balance out things I disagree , traded mine for an Endura and would prefer the 0920 handle to both from just looking at it (haven't owned one).

OP - for a big production flipper with a great M390-equivalent steel and 3D machined full titanium handle which is sold at only $240, my answer is NO - I have not found any other knives that can beat ZT 0920. Reate Horizon D (including the mini) has similar setup (blade steel and handle) but costs at least $100 more (granted it has better hardware). Spyderco fluted titanium Military, which has similar handle but lesser steel was priced at $280 before being discontinued. Spyderco kw exclusive s90v cf/ti Military costs $40 more while the scales are not 3D machined (and it is debatable whether s90v is truly an upgrade over cpm-20cv). ZT 0804cf has similar steel but plain titanium and cf scales cost $40 more before being discontinued (granted the DLC adds to the cost). ZT 0562cf has plan ti/cf scales and similar/same steel but sells at the same price as 0920.

That being said, to some folks ZT 0920 is too large and the recurve is not something they are fond of. If these are not problems for you, I see no reason to search for alternatives to ZT 0920.

It's tough for any company to compete with Zero Tolerance when it comes to titanium frame lock flippers. They know how to knock them out of the park while keeping price relatively low for what you're getting.

I just got the little brother of the 0920, the 0900, and I am thoroughly impressed with the little tank. It'll be riding with me for quite some time. If I'm in the market for a large(ish) frame lock flipper I would choose ZT over just about every production knife company out there.

Aesthetics are all about preference of course. In my eyes it's just absurdly aggressive and tacticool looking at the expense of meaningful utility
This has been my view of ZT in general and why I have never bought one.
to be fair : Any blade that is thicker or wider than a good paring knife is less than optimal for me. Four inches or a tad less and 1.9mm . . . spear shaped(ish)
that's me
