Is there anything better than the ZT 0920

It is a comfortable handle! And is silly light in the hand. For the size and blade length it is soooo light. Milling the inside of the titanium handles did wonders!
WHAT !
They did that ?
I been banging the table for a while that is the way to go with Ti.
I might have to get one and do some grind grind to the blade.
What steel is this little gem ?

If you want something stylish and something where you feel like you get the best bang for your buck (20CV/Machined Ti Handles/Bigger more elaborate blade) get the 0920, if you want something more as a practical EDC tool with less frills get the Manix 2 XL. I have big hands too and I have both knives, I like them both for those reasons, the Manix feels more comfortable in hand because the handle has a bit more beef to to. If you want a ZT that is a bit of a mix between the two options consider the previously mentioned 0562CF and if you want another personal suggestion from me: 801Ti. Nice machining on the handle, the stonewash hides wear well, I like the spearpoint-y blade shape, comfortable for larger hands if you ask me, flips well, just a bit shorter blade compared to the rest.

Also I think the 0055 is very good bang for your buck, elaborate machining on handle and blade, SLT system. And it's rather comfortable and decently usable. But it's a love/hate with the model for people to begin with, nothing I'd suggest.

Crazy steel, you're gonna be grinding for quite some time;)

The reason I think of it as a joke is that it's features present as very exaggerated, over the top. A well designed, subtle recurve can be great and aid in utility. This is not that. Again, just my opinion. Not saying it has to be yours.

I actually think a subtle recurve is sort of pointless. That is because if the recurve is too subtle I think there is very little point in it being there.

If one is to put a recurve on a knife then you might as well put one large enough that you gain the benefits of a recurve.

I'm not saying i don't like that it's light, but the milling made the flipping sound a bit, well hollow.

Yes, you can totally hear a similar sound on the Anthem in this vid. That kind of turned me off but I had been buying fairly expensive Benchmades like they were going out of style and had to draw the line somewhere.
Looks like I am going to have to live with that; as I did with the "cheep" "plastic" feel of the super great Griptillian. I appreciate the performance of the stock Griptillian handle so much !

Yes . . . that's the way it goes with a heat treated blade; got to go slow.
3V and CTS-XHP have been no serious problem though.
;)

PS: something I will never get used to is there are almost no sparks while grinding these funny alloys. I keep expecting complex showers of white sparks.

Grinding :
about a quarter of the way shows what I expect
about half way he grinds Super Blue = almost no sparks
3V and CTS-XHP are similar
that's weird

Not really a practicality purchase for me just something I really want, I actually have two benchmade contego blades (one in grey and an M390 version) and the crooked River as I like the axis style lock that much, just not sure if the manix XL will be able to trump them

Let's see, 4" blade, 20cv, metal handle, recurve, ball bearings, flipper, 5+ ozs, funky spine, 0.156" thick....
That combination is about as impractable as it gets for me. Yep, there's a ton of better knives, almost everything.
I wonder how many have been sold.

Look at that little sucker ! ! !
It is like a 940 on steroids with good genes and android implants.
Stout !

Stout indeed, haha. It's a mean little fella. It's almost exactly the same length as a mini grip, but a good 2 ounces heavier with a much thicker spine. I'd trust this knife to keep up with most of my bigger fixed blades. Hell, it's tip is as thick as most of my fixed blades, haha.

20cv if I remember correctly.

If it's not a practical purchase I would go 0920, the Axis lock is (in my opinion) a bit smoother than the Manix BBL (Although I have the DLC version, so that might play into it, compared to a satin blade version).

I rarely do that . . . Mr. Practical brain gets in the way . . . there was one exception though. Cold Steel Spike. I have no use for this but I still am glad I bought it. It is very cool in hand for what it is.
I call it my James Bond Knife.

Yes I almost went there. I wanted a similar knife in M390 SO BAD ! ! ! ! !
I hesitated because the blade was a bit thick. Then I ran across the special addition 710 in M390 and pounced like a hungry alley cat.
Glad I did; I didn't fully realize at the time just how big the Contego is. It would draw some attention where I work and I would have to use it when no one was looking. I mean I had a comment when I used my Manix to help a customer : "I didn't realize the Bowie knife was standard equipment for the modern mechanic !" (good thing I wasn't carrying my Hold Out I the guy would have gone running out of the shop).
. . . 710 in M390 . . . that was when I had to get used to a subtle recurve . . . in the 710 it works and I like it fine.

just not sure if the manix XL will be able to trump them

IMO the best thing that can be said for the Manix XL is :

Just to balance out things I disagree , traded mine for an Endura and would prefer the 0920 handle to both from just looking at it (haven't owned one).
I see your point. The Endura and Manix have a tendency to lock your fingers in place, which is generally nice. That 0920 looks like it would free your hand up and allow your fingers to move a little while the deep grove that lands with your fore finger would keep things secure. I still think the Manix is more versatile :p, but I do a lot of cuts where I need to choke up quite a bit on the knife.

Loving black and white lately....

Considering price point especially are there any other options available that can compete with the 0920.

I have really large hands and need at least a 3.75 inch blade on the knife. Looking for a flipper with a full titanium handle and steel that's up on the same level as 20cv.

I feel like I've looked through so many knives but can't find anything that competes with the ZT but maybe there are some that I haves missed.
No there is no better knife, its the best. Doesn't matter, you posted about it so there will be a zt0920 in your pocket soon. Then you can continue your search for the better knife (unicorn) from there. Congrats on your new blade:D
