IS this a real Strider SMF or are the fakes THAT good now???

This one seems to have a starlingear etching on it... Real or fake?

What makes you think it could be a fake? I've yet to see a black-bladed SMF fake or an imitation starlingear SMF, but I haven't checked the usual sites in a couple weeks.

There are suddenly about 3 knives for sale with that design on the second hand market... I also have heard (won't mention the name as it's not my place) but a very high end knife retailer just got sent a SCARY accurate fake where even the logo was exactly copied, a feat previously not achieved.

I personally havent seen a starlingear logo in that design, has anyone else?

I wasn't able to find an SMF in that configuration nor have I seen one like it before. So I can't confirm if it is legit or not. :foot::rolleyes:
 
I just checked the usual sites and nothing new has come up. If they're fakes, they're not being widely produced and distributed. Just the same crappy D2/TC4/G10 framelocks with ugly carving and a couple Ti/CF S35VN DDC clones. No etching and no coated blades in the lot.

I've just never seen this particular combo prior so I'm very nervous to drop the coin$$$...

What do you think Brother?






The D-2 scares me... I'd LOVE one in D2 but I know the fakes advertise that.

I haven't seen one like it, but I'm also no authority on Strider knives. I've never seen an etched fake is as much as I can say, and all of my usual sources where I keep up to date on counterfeits are completely devoid of such knives. I'd ask the seller directly for a purchase and owner history if you are suspicious!

I as politely as I could asked and he was well, a douche. I want the damn blade though lol
 
That background looks like what GP knives uses in his photos. It would be hard for me to imagine him getting any fake Striders. Call him and speak with him if you are concerned. As always, buy from an authorized dealer, and if the price is too good to be true it usually is.

If it came from GP knives it should be good to go. Call him and check it out. If the seller is an individual, and he won't be forthcoming with information, move on. It is not worth the risk, or to deal with a shady individual.

Yea I LOVE the idea of a D2 strider, my PD1 was reliable but everything I've had in D2 was a beast.
 
Its real even the new radiused stop pins are correct. That and if you look carefully the etching runs under the clip as well. That knife is 100% real I would bet my own Striders on it.

I'd pass. I can't find evidence of that knife for sale in any shop. It is however listed on ebay in multiple countries.

May not be fake, but for that sort of coin and the fact that the seller's a douche, I'd let it go.

Also: That isn't GPKnives' background. It's close, but not the same. That looks more like a bamboo place mat. Which may very well be what GP uses, but a different brand. No dark brown bands across the middle.
