IS this a real Strider SMF or are the fakes THAT good now???

I found the knife finally. It's not from a dealer. OP I'm not going to tell you to buy it or not to buy it because I don't want to be responsible if it's not real .

I would avoid buying striders where this knife is listed plain and simple but that's just me . How it looks in the picture is not really relevant IMHO . Unless you can get confirmed by someone that makes it or works at strider or is a strider dealer id avoid it . Now if whoever sees it and says oh yea in remember that knife go for it . Like I said I had an smf that was a production that was nearly one of a kind and it came from strider like that ,but my smf came from strider to a dealer to me .

I like the way you think Spartan! One more issue, seen this done many times before.......how can we be sure the knife pictured is the same one being delivered??
Seller acting squirrelly.........stay away.

Are you buying this from an individual? What is the price? Did you ask him where he got it from?

If he is not giving you any answers move on, there is a reason for it. As always, if the deal is too good to be true it usually is. Most people that have some special one-off or limited production knife know where it came from and are happy to give that info in order to sell the item.

It's like you want like 10 dudes to research it for you, but won't even tell us what the seller is saying.

It looks real, but I don't believe we have even seen all of the pictures, know if it's coming from a dealer, from China, or your neighbor's kid, or the price. Some info like that is helpful when asking for assistance if a knife is real or fake. Do your part man.

Price is $575, seller immediately responded with it's real and got insulted. If I had more to tell I would. Sorry for wasting your time..
 
Ask strider then go for it .

But the point of getting what's actually pictured (assuming it checks out with strider) is a valid one .

And Just cause it says and looks nib it might have seen a thousand cycles and have a good amount of wear but still look new.

Spartan thanks for the sound advice brother... I just love the idea of a d2 strider and haven't found one.

I was talking about the stonewashed blade version I saw it , haven't seen the dlc one but is it the same place ?

Honestly man If a seller gets mad or offended if you ask if it's legit I'd walk away. Like I said I had a pd-1 smf that was basically a one off but I knew where it was up until it got to me and it was legit .

Plenty of other options from respected dealers vs an individual. Seller may be upfront and honest but I dunno I've had more than a few striders I prefer to buy mine from a dealer because well a few reasons.

Strider hide abuse well you can beat and beat on one and still sell it LNIB if your that kind of person .

They are faked a lot and the fakes get better and better . Like I said my SMF had bigger stop pins that were actually a stainless color and were huge on a cerakote blade , different pivot , carbonized lock face and custom LBS but the dealer and strider came up with it and I grabbed it.

Personally with strider I deal with BLG first and foremost they had that smf I bought and are GTG . IF BLG doesn't have it I'll check the monkey website . Basically if they aren't under the dealers and friends section on the strider website I'd avoid .
 
I handled a very well made copy a few weeks ago at a gun show. Guy was asking $200, told him “yeah right it's too much for a copy” with big smile. Guy laughed and answered, “good spot, how did you know”, I told him “Price is not right, too cheap”.
Honestly if I had no known better and just saw a picture and not handled the knife I'd have get it, especially if sold as "used". Was a bit too light in hand and... shiny, for a lack of a better word.
Trust no one if it is not coming from a legit shop and if you have the slightest doubt.

This isn't The knife you are looking for but it is a D2 SMF that he says he bought from a dealer-maybe contact him and see what dealer is getting D2
From a google search it seems like both Blue line and GP have sold SMF D2's
Personally if the guy won't answer simple ?'s I don't know how you can do a deal, but it is up to you.

Not offended, public forum, and thanks for finally providing additional info.

If it was $200, as already mentioned, it would be an obvious fake. If it were $1,200 it would be way too high for a lego, D2 Strider. If you are able to determine that it is real, I think $575 would be an ok deal for it, assuming you really want it.
For comparison, most Lego SMF's are under $500, and I don't think D2 is necessarily better than standard S30V. For example, you could score a lego SMF for $495 from an authorized dealer with no back talk, free shipping and zero questions of authenticity.

This is the smf that I. Bought blue line confirmed through credit card invoice

I won't say what I paid cause it was a STEAL. That's why I was scared.......
Best strider decision ever.
(I actually kinda cherish it because it's so cherry and WICKED sharp seriously nasty)
I carry the one I bought from spartan because it was already a user and it preforms wonderfully . ( Full flat grind cpm 154) one day I'll send her to the shop for a spa treatment.

With that said I'm DEFINITELY GOING TO BE LOOKING FOR MORE CPM D2 :)
In a DGG.?...... anyone ......anyone at all ? ;)

I've owned cpm 154 s30v zwesr and pd1 striders oh and s35iirc they all pretty much perform the same strider heat treat is spot on . Zwear 3v and pd1 were something special and I'd buy another one in those 3 steels all day long but the rest I just don't think you'd see much of a difference I know s35 s30 and cpm 154 you couldn't really tell a difference same with zwear 3v and pd1 couldn't tell you what was what just it was better than usual
