Sorry if I'm not meant to post ebay links, I'm really curious about this knife though, I don't know how else to do it. The title says beachmade but the blade has the benchmade logo in what looks like the right spot. I realise there is no AXIS lock.

I've been watching this get progressively cheaper over the last few weeks but don't really know much about benchmade's, it looks nothing like my 553 tanto. My guess is that there's a 99% chance its fake.

$70 shipping to the US!!

"Hard to explain such a price of art by words!!" (from the ad)

Looks lame to me.
But I'm no expert on Benchmade's.

Sorry if I'm not meant to post ebay links, I'm really curious about this knife though,

There's nothing wrong with linking to an eBay auction -- even a currently-active one -- as long as you are not the seller or shilling, for the seller AND as long as your reason for posting it is to discuss it. You've done just that in a very fine post which should lead to interesting discussion.

Aside from blatant advertising, what's not allowed is what we often call "auction spotting," the post that takes the form of "lookie, lookie, an X knife on eBay." There are tens of thousands of knives on eBay at any moment and many times more on the internet as a whole. If they were all posted on bf.c, it would just collapse our forum. Ebay and all of the auction sites have searching features and "favorites" features so that anyone looking to buy an X knife via an auction can easily find them without using bf.c.

But, the fact that there are tens of thousands of knives on eBay does make it a rich source of interesting knives for significant discussion and so discussing those knives is just fine.

Lest you think you've found a clever loophole to promote your own auctions by starting threads to "discuss" your knife, keep in mind that -- aside from the fact that you'll be banned if you get caught -- you can't control how discussion will go. Someone could point out flaws in it or suggest better alternatives or point out cheaper sources. So, faux discussion threads are not a good advertising technique.

Let’s see if we can find the right forum …

Yeah, I figured it was a fake, I wasn't going going to get the thing anyway I'm in Australia anyway it wouldn't have been $70 for me, I just think its funny cause its probably been advertised for over a month now.

You make a good point Gollnick. I can promise I'm in no way affiliated with it, It'd be bad advertising to point out from the get go that it was a fake anyway. It just gets me that people can do such blatant rip offs, I know its probably made in China but why can't safe guards be implemented? By the way what is shilling?

I think this belongs in Bernard Levines knife identification forum.Am I right?I'm getting better at identifying & recognizing the appropriate post with the correct forum...heck it only took me 9months :o

JTR, I didn't put it here, it was moved - i guess this is where it belongs. It only took me around 25 minutes to work out whereabouts into the ether it was shot off to.

Is it my imagination or does this knife has what looks like "LLL", where my 556 has "USA" below the butterfly, above the model number?

There must be a few fake name branded knives in Australia. My good friend lives in Vic and I'm always talking about Spyderco, so she went in a gun shop and saw a knife with the brand on the blade. Handed over 35 dollars and when she told me I wanted to see it, so she sent pictures and it only has the Spyderco name stamped on the upper part of the blade. Now she's out to find a real Spyderco!

I've seen that seller before. It's definitely fake. He also sells fake Emersons, M9 bayonets and looks like his selling fake Rambo knives now

A quick tip-off should be that Benchmade doesn't grind serrations like that. Amongst other things...
