Is this hobby addictive or is it me?

Sounds like you caught the bug I had last month-- now here I am, with about $1700 in new knives--- and there are still so many more to discover, It really is an addictive thing..

i currently have a benchmade syringe hanging outta one arm and a keshaw syringe hanging outta the other ive become addicted just like all of you but just recently for me, finding this place is prolly the worst best thing that ever happened to me ;)

I just ordered 2 more. Another leatherman knife that they dont make anymore...Basically the bigger version of the one I just bought. This is the k502x.

I also bought a Beretta Harsey tactical.

I have a strong feeling after I finish getting what I want from Benchmade (figure a kulgera, 755, and I pre ordered 2 m4 grips from aeromedix), I will attack fallkniven and al mar...I think al mar first.

can someone help me i bought a spyderco military on e bay its used but this version has no markings on the blade stating origin blade steel or anyhting . spyderco clip and clip has a bunch of pat pending numbers on it . is this common for a really old military ? g10 slabs nice big hole im sure it is what they stated it was i just have never seen one like this before . any info at all would be much appreciated

that's just random.

Thankfully I'm a cheap bastard with very little extra, disposable income to buy knives or other toys. I don't consider myself a collector, I'm a user.

I also dont consider myself a collector, just really like knives. I use all my knives and sell the ones that I dont use anymore. I actually sold a bunch of knives to fund a new longboard :P

I will always really like knives and I enjoy learning about em and seeing whats new. I am always on the lookout for a replacement, although I havent seen anything for a while.

Very much so. After getting my first Bark River (A Rising Wolf), I'm wondering if I can sell a kidney to raise the funds for more, not to mention a few more Spyderco and GECs I've had my eye on...

Someone else has 700+ Big Mac containers? Wow, how did I fall behind??

My knife collection has no direction... which suits me to a T. One day a Boker Tree Brand Barlow - the next, a Benchmade 755 MPR... go figure. Probably a form of 'hoarding'.

I am gonna stop buying for a while ( another is on the way as I type).:D

They are piling up everywhere....on tables, in drawers, on shelves, in coats and jackets, in pants, in hiding spots, in my lunchbox, in my truck, in my BoB's, under my bed, in the underwear drawer, in the garage, etc,etc...

I like knives sooo much, I feel sick. :barf::D

Hmmmmmm. What does a kidney go for these days? Of course, there are various levels of addiction, and in my professional opinion, you're working more than one! Thankfully, they are lumpy so you can't mainline'em.

You are in that initial phase where you are trying out everything to see what kind of hi you get. Eventually, if you score something that just rocks your boat, you'll begin to specialize. You don't even wanna know about that!

I now order one of a kind, custom made blades, from exceptional artist and makers. If you think you are upset now, wait until you get to that point. Renfroe, have you seen my 3 & 12/16th Wharncliffe with the silver inlay?;)

"Is this hobby addictive or is it me?"

If you ain't addicted, you ain't doin' it right. But a dozen more and check back in next week. ;)

thx - cpr

I'm not addicted. I really do NEED all 87 varieties of one particular knife model. Oops, wait, make that 88, I just found one I don't have yet.

Hmmm, after buying 30+ knives in the last 6 months...I would have to say yes, it is addictive.

Not too long ago my wife decided to count all my knives to prove a point or something. We both ended up laughing at the giant pile of knives on the floor...WAY more then she expected. We concluded that I might have a "problem".

There is something about these tools/weapons that man has loved forever. If you think collecting knives is addictive.... try making some!!!!(Isiah 54: 16,17)

KNIVES ARE CHEAP.
Yes you heard me right. Most things are more expensive than knives. I'm 53 yo and have about 60 folders and 12 fixed blades most are higher end, a few are cheapos and 5 are custom.
Things that are really expensive;
Boats - fishing and water skiing
Skiing - Many great memories but so very costly
Divorce- Very expensive but worth every penny
Two kids in college
Cars - Need I say more
Vacations- The hunting and fishing ones were worth it.
