Is this hobby addictive or is it me?

It is not addicting. Just ask my 25 slipjoints, 4 modern folders, and 5 fixed blades. They will tell you I am not addicted. Silly thread ya started....:D

I'm just curious about everything

"Will I really notice a difference between steel x and steel y?"

"Everyone raves about brand a...maybe I should see what the fuss is about?"

etc etc etc

I know Curiosity killed that Cat....good thing I'm not feline then.

I know Curiosity killed that Cat....

Aye, but satisfaction brought it back!

Back in the days, I used to collect FN pistols, now it's knives. Throughout all these years, I have never been happier with a hobby than knife collecting/using. I may wear out one or two brands, but others are quick to take their place and the hunt continues. I don't see knife collecting as addicting...OK, it is addicting, but I wouldn't have it any other way. ;)

Maybe for those who have some mild to moderate psychosis. Otherwise I see absolutely no comparison to hoarding. Hoarders keep everything...just for for the sake of keeping it or because they can't bring themselves to throw it away. Most hoarded items have little to no value. There's a big difference between an organized, thought-out collection and an accumulation of 700+ empty Bic Mac cartons. I seriously doubt anxiety has anything to do with for 99% of knife collectors.

I have every box that every knife came in, along with all the paperwork (catalogs, manuals, sales receipts, etc.) Doc, is this normal?
