Is this knife real or fake

Alot of idiots from Europe, Russia and America request for clones to be made. These are scammers and people that can't afford the real thing.

Otherwise the Chinese themselves also just make clones of anything and everything. Even rice that goes to 3rd world countries. It's a real problem.

They don't care as it makes them money.

And with so many Americans not caring about the issues... It just is an uphill battle.

C'mon. Its one thing to (justifiedly) come down on Chinese knife manufacturers for playing a role alond with sellers and buyers in the whole "clone market."

It's a whole other thing to say "Well, you know those Chinese, and how they just make clones of anything. Anything for money with them."

I would imagine the cost to tool up and give each and every one its own serial number is very expensive. The success of implementing such a change also depends on the people buying the knives know enough and care enough to check the serial numbers and see that they are real.
A printed serial number on a card, with a note to "register your warranty", should be enough. It works in other industries.

Most of the clone demand ex-US is due to the cost of US-made products being uncompetitive due to import tariffs. If you "can't afford" the knife does that really make you an "idiot"? These consumers (scammers aside) aren't dumb, they're just market participants who, like the overwhelming majority, don't make choices based on morals or ethics. If the US gov cared about exporting US goods in a competitive global marketplace, it would negotiate duty-free US exports, just like the US allows "free trade" imports from China and Mexico. The reason the gov doesn't do that has nothing to do with consumers being dumb.

Does it? I always wonder how many people actually register things. I feel like it's probably a fairly small percentage. besides, even if they do try to register it and discover they purchased a fake, so what? the damage is done. They already bought the knife. Amazon would likely do a refund, assuming they discovered the fake in time to be compliant with the return policy, but do you think the unscrupulous scam sellers are going to say, "Oh geez, we sold a fake? please let us give you your money back."

In theory, you're 100% correct. But as the old quote goes, "In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they rarely are."

I dunno man. Ever watch Sal get interviewed and how the Chinese factories thank him for making knives that they clone, cause it makes them money for their family.

I've read alot into it and I have many Chinese room mates throughout the years. I wouldn't say I'm an expert... But they deliberately make clones so they can eat. Is that a better way of putting it?

Yes there are. Again, I agree that the Chinese manufacturers, the sellers, and the buyers are all to blame for the knife cloning industry.

But that is not an excuse from making broad generalizations about the Chinese people. That is bigotry.

And what does having "many Chinese roomates" have to do with anything? Did they work in knife factories? And we all work so we can eat.

Dude wat? Never mind I said anything. I don't want to throughly explain everything in detail. Not being a bigot. Please don't make the assumption.

They've literally sold fake eggs to their fellow man to make a buck.

When is Donald Trump going to build the wall? It will be the best thing that happened to America yet.

NO POLITICS IN THIS FORUM. READ THE RULES.

Also this thread is turning into bigotry about Chinese people. QUIT IT. If you want to discuss Chinese business practices, fine. If you want to talk about how Chinese people behave across the board, BladeForums is the wrong place.

You are new here, so you really should read more of the forum rules. No politics!
Just a heads up for ya!

It's ok guys. Already reported to mods for drifting political and into bigotry.

And yeah, the idea about the wall on the Mexican border has nothing at all to do with clone knives from China...

Precisely. It's like saying "Americans" are bad because Ford made the Pinto.

And making a judgement about "the Chinese," which has over 50 recognized ethnic groups (one of which may comprise as much as 19% of the global human population) based on having some Chinese roommates is what it is.

Again, some Chinese knife manufacturers are part of a larger cloning industry and that industry is terrible and corrupt.
