Is this knife real or fake

That is an excellent point. I have seen over and over here folks arguing against buying clones becuase they are "low quality."

Who cares? Just like you said.

If someone made an exact replica of a Sebenza down to materials and tolerances and sold it for $99, I still wouldn't buy it because it's a ripoff.

But it just blows my mind when people say that kinda stuff..."If you buy a clone the lock might fail." Missing the point entirely.

This is my point as well. The quality of the products do not matter, i would not buy counterfeit on principles. Im talking about clones, not the legit Chinese companies making legit cheap knives.

But it would be silly of me to lie just to make them seem worse in build quality. Counterfeit knives would be inconsistent. They are built in different factories. Some are worse and some are better in build & material quality.

These are not knives made by single individuals in garages. The knife factory pumps out knives. Counterfeit knife factory most likely also builds legit knives, as it makes no economical sense to build a factory only to make fakes. Most likely they build legit knives for a legit company, but makes fakes on the side.

The difference between cheap $15 junk at a gas station and $15 counterfeit knife is that... counterfeit knife is skipping a bunch of process to save more cost. No export license needed, no import tax, no warehousing, no palleting, no cuts gone to gas station, no licensing cost to brand, no delivery cost to gas sation, no advertising cost.. only thing they have to worry is cost of listing it on a website, shipping it to US, and manufacture cost.

I have seen my fair share of fake / immitation handbags for females. Frankly speaking, i have seen Chanel bags that are better built than the originals. I have seen fake Oakleys that were better built than the originals. But I have seen very crappy counterfeits as well. Why would some fakes even be better than originals? Because they want to pass as originals and try to make it look good. Why would some fakes be worse than originals? Because they want to maximize profit.

So quality of any counterfeit product can be inconsistent, whether good or bad. But it is very silly to think all are somehow horriblely made at a “fake” factory. That same factory makes other brands.

The real reason why someone should not purchase a clone isnt inconsistency of quality, or inconsistency of materials. These fakes are riding on free advertising of actual brand, skipping all the import tax, licenses, bulk freight costs, storage fees, etc. It is coming directly from factory cutting out all costs of coming & selling to US legally. It is wrong in principles as in it is not competing fairly with legit American companies that pay everything to have it made in China.

The reason why I think quality should not matter when deciding to not purchase a clone, is because someday, the quality may get better. For some products, the quality is actually better. Thats because they arent even playing with the same rules and regulations as others. I find it unethical business practice and do not support clones. But I also find it weird to lie about the quality.

They've literally sold fake eggs to their fellow man to make a buck.
quartermaster american guy sold chinese made knives as american made to his fellow americans. that fella out of the carolinas with his ganzos made in china pretending to be american made for big bucks. neither of them are starving. the money wasnt for food. bad people are everywhere...not just in one country.

I am new to the whole knife scene.. I can not believe how many different kinds of knives there are.
It get very addictive.
You can spend hours online looking at all the beautiful knives and great craftsmanship.

Go to a shop that displays $15 knives next to drug paraphernalia. Play with a few folders. This is the quality of the clones you're looking at. If you find any of them "solidly built", just buy those.

doesn't apply to ganzo though, but those aren't really clones.

When did Ganzo stop making copy/clone/homage/fake/faux/counterfeit knifes? Must be pretty recent.

Press release in Knife News Weekly or something?

I thought they "got better." I don't follow that closely. I only know they "made their bones with clones."

The fake eggs thing is actually an interesting scam. There were never any fake eggs. What was being sold was devices and "classes" to learn to detect the fake eggs. They used western media sites to sell the idea that there were fake eggs out there, and of course everyone bought it.

No, its real, and something I spoke to members at the US embassy casually about when I was there in 2015.
At the time they were also passing off rice mixed with plastic perfumed pieces as more expensive jasmine rice, too.
I traveled across the country for two weeks and only saw the sun when I was in Beijing and Shanghai due to pollution.

If you know a place that sells Ganzo and bongs, by all means share it with the rest of us.
Okay, I take it back.

It would cost more to fake eggs and rice that the real thing, both are so dirt cheap that using polymer, resins, chemicals and time to fabricate would far outprice the real thing. Jumbo eggs are $0.54 in the US right now for a dozen, I'm sure China has a few chickens and rice fields.
