Is this Sanrenmu knife a copy of some other knife?

I'll say you're trying too hard, if you're going to do your "forest cleaning" with a folder.:rolleyes:

Clearly you missed the part where it is a "REAL" knife. I'm going to post a few videos of knife tests, then claim the entire company is trash and makes junk knives.

I can see that I'm trying to hard here. I should have known that because of the title of this thread there are none of the serious knife nuts in here that I post with on the other threads. I'll leave you fellas to your grout cleaning and get on to my forest clearing with a real knife.

I'll clear my forest with a chainsaw and watch this "real macho man" spend the next 100 years clearing your piece of forest with a tiny knife.

Does it hurt when you need to think? :D:thumbup:

That must be the toughest blade coating ever to clear trees and look so good!

Hey cziv, I wasn't ragging on the USA or making fun of the cars (assuming you were referring to my post). I just believe in "keeping it real" and calling a spade a spade. It just gets old hearing "I'll only buy knives made here or there or where ever because nothing else can compete", or similar such diatribe. That's why I referenced the cars as an example and I was being sincere.

The last time my family owned an American built car was the early 70s (a 72 Torino). Since then it's been Japanese or European. That said, I'm actually seriously considering coming back to North American vehicles because they've improved so much and are really making some nice designs lately.

Again, I'm not hating on the US, my mom and brother live there and I visit at least once a year. My bro actually served 4 yrs active duty with the US Army and did tours in South Korea and Iraq and he's not even an American!
I only point this out to make it clear that I'm not pushing a US vs anyone else argument.

Sure these won't compete with a Sebenza, Strider, Hinderer, etc in terms of toughness, quality, etc but they weren't meant to. They're sub $20 blades that happen to be made in China that I'd quicker buy than most of the crap I've seen in truck stops. I'm also not a China fanboy either and my grandfather was from there.

I'm a person who likes knives and can appreciate samples spanning the full gammut of blades available to us. All my rambling aside, all I'm saying is that I believe in keeping an open mind and appreciating them for what they are.

Again, no harm, no foul. It was not my intent to offend, just stir some open minded discussion.

Peace brother.

You can rag on the USA, quote Sal, make fun of the cars, coffee - whatever. Not worth getting a chicklet to tell you what I'd like to post....:barf:

You ain't going to get much forest cleared with a ZT 0301 dude. I've onwed one. Nice strong knife, but "not all that."

This thread isn't about hard use knives anyway. :cool:

No it isn't. It's about junk knives.;)

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on what you think are junk knives, for the Sanrenmu that I posted to start this thread is a pretty good knife, regardless what you think of it.

And for the record, while I have more than a few Sanrenmus, they are not all as good as the one above, but none of them, I repeat none of them are junk.

Real knife, huh? Well, I have a ZT 0300, drumroll please..............

But there's no way it can compare in forest clearing capabilities to this knife:

And the machete only cost about 10% of what the ZT or the Strider go for.

Why on earth you thought that comparing your ZT to the Sanrenmu in this thread was the thing to do is beyond me.

Hey fellow newbies and fools! Yep, that's what Glocklobster with his whopping 35 posts is referring to us as over there >> http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=819828&page=4 Apparently, he took a little time off from clearing the Amazon forest with his ZT.

Popcorn made, Crown and Coke ready, this is about to get interesting. :D

BTW I'm still waiting on my Enlan EL-01 to come in.

What a jackass (glocklobster). I might be a newbie here, but most of the other posters in this thread are not. Maybe his parents don't know that he is on the family computer when he should be doing homework?

Just ordered a 763 and will try out the axis lock.

You will like the 763 ![/QUOTE]

I'll test it like in the video. Not afraid to break it testing it, but would hope it doesn't.

Never had knives with locks on them when I was younger. People act like its mandatory now.

Earlier in this thread some people said that the Sanrenmus are knock-offs and junk. Whether they are knock-offs is arguable, but junk they are not.

To 'qualify' as junk a knife in my view would have to have one (or more!) of the following 'characteristics':

(1) it is not sharp enough to cut anything meaningful;
(2) the lock is so unreliable that it can't be trusted;
(3) the build is so shabby that the blade comes with considerable play and can easily fall apart even under normal use;
(4) the pocket clip is so fragile that it breaks easily when you try to insert in/retrieve from your pocket.

I don't think Sanrenmu suffers from any of the above faults.

There are many reviews on Youtube on various Sanrenmu knives. Some of the videos include cutting tests. Listen to what others have to say about them and see the results for yourself.

Well, to be honest,
@1: One of the SRM A103's came quite blunt. I must admit it is the only SRM I've seen so far that was not adequately sharp.
@2: I had a SRM 785 that spontaneously lost the spring from the backlock
@3: OK, you're right, haven't seen that until now
@4: I do believe that the screws in the pocket clip on the 905 are too small to hold on to the wood handle. It develops some play after a while.

To be fair I must say that I had about 70 SRM's passing through and those three mentioned above are the only complaints I have. I sold quite a few to some workmates, and now they regularly ask me if I have some trade goods for them. It often happens that the knife I brought for show and tell doesn't come home with me.
Those workmates are not "real knife people" but they are all engineers and are capable of seeing the difference between a good value tool and "POS junk manure"

Bee EL 01 is a beast. Wait until you thin out the secondary bevel to 30 inclusive or less, it's a devil :D
The steel is harder than Sanrenmu's I have, it took longer to thin it down.

It's a flipper, needed cleaning up from factory grease to be smooth enough to open with finger flip without wrist assistance. I did it by re-oiling & washing repeatedly with hot water & soap. Now it flips great, even at vertical position (blade ends up pointing upwards)

To those who complain about handle size needs to check the 9xx series or newer Athletic series (which mostly are Bee's, I think they outsource it to Enlan)

What kind of tool did you use to unscrew the pivot?
I'd like to clean up mine too.
