I have a bunch of harvested cotton wood to make hearths and drills for those who might want to try their hand at it. Its a bit harder to get a coal then basswood, but still quite doable. I'll bring the bow and capstone that doc gave to me.
I have some firewood for the main area pit to sit around towards the end of the day. I'll bring a bag of charcoal brickettes to get a BBQ going to eat dinner at the Island. Bring whatever you would like to cook. Plan for a light (on the trail) lunch and for dinner you will have access to the BBQ grill - e.g. hamburgers or whatever you like. I'll have some red and white wine in politically correct packaging and a couple of Guatemalan cigars.
First part of the day is will be to explore the Island and its various trails. We can do this as a group or just wonder off on your own if you prefer. We can then meet back around around 2:30 - 3:00 pm at the main area near the pavillion. From there we can get a fire going and BBQ, practice skills, eat and drink and have some fun!
The main areas has bunch of picnic tables and a covered pavilion. You can bring a cooler or cooler bag to store any meat you might have on the boat. I can also lock some valuable you might have that you don't want to bring on the hike with you, like a few super expensive knives, in one of the compartment areas of the boat. Space is a bit limited for what can be locked so be mindful of that. Bring yourself a plate and some eating utensils or mess kit if you will use that to cook aside from the grill and some water (unless you want to boil the hell out of the Detroit River water)
Weather from the Weather Network is calling for mainly sunny in the morning and afternoon, although a few reports indicate a possibility of showers in the morning. Some light rain gear or a poncho might be worth considering.
See you folks tomorrow.
