Issue regarding Paypal dispute

I disagree on it being stealing. So be it. Even thinking of keeping it is just wrong. Sorry my high morals hit a nerve in you. Wasnt my intent but you posted so i gave you what i thought.

OP bought A.

Seller sent B.

OP brought this to seller's attention and seller ignored OP.

OP opened PP case and seller ignored OP

OP went to final stage with PP. Seller ignored OP and, apparently PP (Otherwise, from my single experience [the "excellent" slipjoint rusted shut], PP would have instructed OP to return item).

My issue is determining how much money and how much more time does the OP owe the seller.

I think the op has done the right thing so far.

Maybe check your spam email & see if the sellers replies have somehow landed there.

Give it some time, as others have stated. Go back to the sale thread, see whom else bought from him. Contact them and see if by chance one of the other buyers still has his address.
It's just not normal for something like this to happen. Assume the worst, hope for the best for this member.

I attempted to contact one member who bought a knife from him with no response. Ill try the others.

I called paypal and inquired why i wasn't instructed to ship the item back. The answer was simple.... when the other party is non responsive to a claim... it automatically closes in favor of the person who started it. They move it passed all other steps straight to closed. They do not require proof of shipping at that point. I found this to be very strange.

As for the last issue.... why would i owe the seller money? Time i get but money?

I think TL is saying that you DON'T owe any more time or money to the seller

That would be my opinion, but it's just an opinion.

Agreed that your allowed your opinion but i think what were after is clarification lol. One user directly above your post thought you meant something else than what was typed.... even i had to read it 3 or 4 times and still think there was a mistake in wordage.

If it wasn't a mistake would you care to elaborate a little. Not being a smartass.... im open to all advice/opinions.

"I think TL is saying that you DON'T owe any more time or money to the seller"

That (you DON'T owe any more time or money to the seller) would be my opinion, but it's just an opinion.

Thanks for the clarification Thomas. If the email i sent today doesn't get a response I'm going to revisit my plan to see what is best to do.

If you feel so bad about keeping the knife just have a "give away" and let someone on the forum enjoy it.

Popsickle, it is NOT your fault! I would have no issues at all trading or buying from you!! Don't let this get you down- you handled it like a pro so far!

yup!!!

I really don't know what you could do at this point. Maybe just hold it for a few months to be sure he isn't coming back. Possibly send out an email once a month to see if anything comes of it. Other than that wrap it up and put it away for now, and don't worry about it. You have done all you can and more than required(though good of you for trying).
I can only think of a few reasons for him not responding- Don't care, hospital, jail, or loss of internet. I figure amnesia and abduction by aliens to be long shots :).
