For me, it's not whether I can open or close it, it is important to be able to carry it lefty tip up.
(imagine the rage when the same hand that cuts the meat also forks the piece)
True, but it isn’t like asking them to cater solely to left-handers.Lefthandedness is only present in about 10% of the population.
It isn’t the opening and closing so much as the pocket clip. Many manufacturers won’t make pocket clip holes for ambidextrous carrying because of aesthetics. That's funny. I'm not left handed but I find it easier opening a frame lock flipper with my left hand.
Hinderer, and others, can do a preorder to gauge the market. They may be hesitant due to perceived risk of return on investment.
I think that anything he makes sells out fast. That seems to ultimately be the problem. When sales slow, he is likely to step out of the box a little more. But, for now, why would he add more work without the prospect of more profit?
Exactly. Why as a business owner would you go through extra expense and hassle to add something when it won't make you any extra extra money? The only way it would make him more money is if he suddenly couldn't sell everything he made now or charges alot more for them.
Yes, but still nice to have something that is designed for your dominant hand. Yes, we know left handed people are a small portion of the population. And we know they aren't as pretty as right-handers on average. And let's be honest, sometimes they smell a little funny. But they are still people gosh darnit and they don't deserve to sit alone at the buffet....I think I forgot what point I was trying to make.If this thread was created for some political reason, I can understand. Otherwise, I agree with @ferider that right-handed framelock folders can be easily opened AND closed by the left hand.

Oh right, yes, it would be nice if there was a run of lefty knives for these outcasts. Maybe someone could organize a pre-order and see if RHK would make a batch if it was prepaid.
...I have no idea what you are talking about. How do left hand folders and politics intersect? I'm trying to make a venn-diagram of these two things and the middle part is just a crazy dude yelling at "chemtrails"It's ridiculous for you to infer a bunch of gibberish like that from my short post. Political reasons are not all bad and in this case, again, IF it is due to a political reason, it is all good to me and I fully understand and support. All I said is RHK framelock folders designed for right hand can be easily opened and closed with the left hand.
OTOH, the post by another person regarding left carry makes more sense. RHK has scales with left-carry screw holes but that adds to the cost.
The fact that the recent run of lefty Shiros sold out in a few hours (maybe less) should show that you are dead wrong.
I have zero doubts that a lefty Hinderer would sell well enough to turn a decent profit.
Don't forget. CRK has been making leftys for years. I highly doubt they would continue this if they were not making money.
He has stated that he plans on doing a lefty run at some point, but just hasn't gotten around to it yet. I think the real reason is laziness. Hinderer probably doesn't want to bother doing the tooling and CNC programming it would take to do a run right now.
I do believe RHK will do a full lefty. When it actually happens is the real question. We'll probably see it when all the Ti scales and LE store exclusive XMs stop flying off the shelves.

I need a safe space. Gee maybe he wants to make a lefty run to help the lefties out there? Y’all act like every business owner in the world only cares about profit. Maybe there is a little Left handed firefighter out there. He needs a lefty RHK to do his job! Maybe Rick cares more to help make this firefighters job easier than he cares about his bottom line? I’d sure like to hope so. Rick seems like a stand up guy from interviews I’ve seen. He doesn’t come across as mr wonderful from shark tank.
On a serious note. I love what a above poster said about gathering people who would be willing to prepay and see if that will entice Rick. I’ll see if I can propose this and go from there. Even if he needed a year or 2 to do it, I’d put the full price of the knife down right now and not think twice.

Hinderer has always annoyed me. First it was only selling to LEOs and refusing to sell to actual knife enthusiasts for years forcing their value up beyond reason. Then it was refusing to adapt to the action expected from a flipper. Now, it continues to be an issue where they will not make adjustments like selling left hand models, not overcharging and manufacturing scarcity for full ti models, and refusing to do things like fix the aggressive jimping under the flipper tab, adjusting the flipper trigger in general for human hands, and offering non flipper models consistently. Hinderer has always been unfriendly to customers and perpetuated that it's impossible to offer a reasonable variety of products end users actually want regularly. Sorry, I don't want a clown colored blue and tan working finish fat skinner 3 inch variant that am expected to just be excited to buy and pay the entire cost of the knife over again to make it look how I prefer. Flame away.
Wait, what? I cut with my right hand and use the fork with my left. Why are you switching hands? It's wasting time getting the food to your mouth.
