It followed me home (Part 2)

That saw is awesome! If it is crescent ground you should be able to mic it on both ends the middle. If it is more than -3 you have an amazing saw. I almost bought one just like it but it wasn’t crescent ground and didn’t have the supplemental handle for much more than that. I have an original Simonds saw jointer from about 1890s I bet you would love.

I need a mic, if you mean micrometer, and was thinking earlier this week that I could use one just for this circumstance. Thanks for info Brian, really motivates me to get one asap.

Now, about the Simonds jointer...please post up a picture or several...I am salivating just reading your mention:D:):cool:seriously LOL!

My eyes won’t allow it but you could use a tape measure, or a pair of calipers.

If you look in the background on my bench of the picture you can see the jointer. I will have to take some better pictures tomorrow and post them. It is sitting next to a no name jointer I got that day. The simonds is the more elegant one.

Miller, is the Disston a five footer champion tooth?

These guys here are both champion tooth

I have only confirmed that the 48" is Disston

However that said. The history I got with the saws, the owners of the saws claim the two saws have been a pair & together in their family for three maybe four generations...that could put the 6' saw a Disston but I won't know till about two saws from now LOL!

Today's 36" I was pretty surprised and am excited to get to after the 48" I am into now :(;)

The saw is a Craftsman and unless I am mistaken at the tip on the "back" there is a fine toothed section "for cutting nails". My only Craftsman tools grandpa got the same thing in the '60's? and it is still hanging above his workbench at my grandma's.

That far right handle is amazing. Both handles on the right are really great! That type of saw has been on my radar, will be watching for again when the warm weather for yard sales return!

I hope you don't mind I grabbed your shot and posted.

Is that a Stanley Sweetheart plane? Sergeant maybe?
I like the draw knife too:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
