did a bunch of picking today, here's a few highlights, there's the woodslasher obviously, then a no-name phantom bevel (sorry brian, not a belknap)

and lastly, an RCA Radiola 18, it works marvelously, if you like static. if anyone knows how to convert a tube radio to modern AM, i'm open to advice

i got the woodslasher in a box of stuff for $10, then the P-bevel head was $10 and the radio was $5

Even the oldest radios still tune modern analog AM signals, so something else is up.

I've taken a few days off from posting. So this is two days worth of finds. None of them were yard sales or anything like that! I've got some of my customers looking for me and two of them came through! Sweet!

Awesome scores.
And yes Jb is great to deal with.
I got the knife I bought from him in about 2 days.

Here's that 6" butcher I bought off JB , which actually arrived Thursday and I forgot to post it here till now.

I've discovered that it was made by the A.C.co around 100 years ago or so.

I was able to take the shesth that came with it along with a section of an old belt I had and make something that looks fairly nice, but the leather has a smell I can't get rid of.
I'll find a way I'm sure, but if not the sheath was really just a bonus and I've got a temporary one made till I can come up with a permanent solution.
( Probably have to get some more leather )

You guys back east find the coolest stuff old stuff.

I really like the Vaughan claw hatchet. You should see how well they perform on a longer riggers handle.

If it wasn't on the original haft maybe I'd try it! I was really late to the party as far as collecting axes is concerned. I've said before but I'm in my first year and i thought for sure there wouldn't be that many around. But I'm fortunate and lucky i guess to be located where i am and I've had really great luck finding them and a bunch of other cool stuff too. Plus being self employed means i drive everywhere and meet tons of new people so that helps a lot too. I just got word from another customer today who found two hatchets in his old barn! I'm going over tomorrow evening at 6 to get them. Its like Xmas! I'll post tomorrow night!

To bad about the smell, I like what you were able to make for the sheath from existing material.
The butcher knife does look good, well balanced and smooth fitting in your hand. The handle came out great sir!

I agree, JB makes it fun as well as easy and fast:thumbsup:
