It followed me home (Part 2)

This followed me home awhile ago but I figured I'd do an update since it turns out two things followed me home. I was cleaning him up today and decided to pop out a chunk of metal in the eye. The metal piece was a broken part of a chainsaw file. How did it get in the bottom of the eye?o_O

Rode way out to a farm estate sale yesterday and everything was overpriced paid six bucks for these and a craftsman copieng saw, where all taped together was hopeing it was decen

Decent anyways was a wustoff and two four star sabateiers
Great score there for $6.
I've never seen a single carbon steel knife in years of Goodwill cutlery hunting, so I've only started actually buying in the last couple years.
I've gotten a few scores, but I'd have been even happier with them if they weren't stainless steel.

This broad axe followed me home...a very long time ago. So long ago that, when I stumbled upon it hiding in a foot locker in the machine shed, I didn't recognize it. It's marked "J.UNDERHILL" and "CAST STEEL" with the number six. It measures 10 1/4 inches from pole to edge and 9 1/2 from heel to toe. The haft is 21 1/2 inches, and the head weighs about 7 lb. It has a single bevel, and the haft is bent as it should be for a single-bevel broad axe. I have no clue when or where I got it!

I included the dime to get my camera to focus appropriately to see the words cast steel. I'll stard a new thread when I get this axe cleaned up. T-A

It pays to ask about stuff. I was at my favorite hardware store picking up a single and double bit handle and saw there was only one poor quality double bit handle left. As I was leaving in disappointment I saw the store owner and told him only one double bit handle left and asked if he had any others. He said he'd check and came back 10 minutes later with a much better handle. It was a nice 32 inch handle with a real palm swell and not the taper at the end of the handle. Needless to say it followed me home with a John Mahaney single bit handle. Soon both will show up in the what did you rehang today thread. Sorry but no pics.

It's such a rare occurrence that your significant other (presuming there's one) asks you: "Is this new??" and you can, with a genuinely honest face ask: "What??? Did you just buy me that one? Is this a prank?!" :D

(Very nice, btw.)

I've been pretty slack about collecting lately. Really there just hasn't been anything around me. But i got both of these today.
