I started out with an egg beater drill not much larger than that. Looking back I guess Dad was afraid I would get hurt with an electric drill. He was right, as usual, as I routinely do still do damage to myself in the shop.

Bummer! I would have interrogated whoever you got them from! You better not be holding out on us hording a new supply! I just received some House clubs in the mail, and scored 2 vintage hafts on the bay. If anyone is interested, I received an email this morning that Whiskey River has some hafts in stock, for now. I'm waiting on one of their 20" hatchet hafts to come in stock to try out.

Right on! You grabbed some good stuff there! I like the house handles. You can slim them up to your liking. Better than being too skinny LOL. Way to go man! Can't wait to see what you pair them with.

Thanks! I was happy to get them! Since @Yankee Josh is hoarding all the vintage hafts, I figured I better get my hands on whatever I can before he has them all! I don't mind the House handles either, plenty of material to work with, and for the most part the are usually pretty good pieces of wood if you select AA handpicked. Here's a sneak peak of what I got the vintage hafts for, can't decide which to use for this project...scored this KP locally off a Facebook marketplace ad. Good deal too. Got 2 Gamble's Artisans in the same deal.

I was just thinking the same thing, though I don't personally use the word cute to describe tools.

Another estate sale find, $10. Got it cleaned up and just need to sharpen it. Probably put a new handle on it at some point, it is still tight though.

Muleman, great score. And I don't think I am alone in saying that is an unusual score in any area. I am by no means an expert but that is the first one of them I have ever laid my eyes on. Heard rumors of them. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. The cool thing to me is that it will see some honest use. I have finally gotten my brother interested in axes and I keep telling him you just have to be patient and there is no telling what will drop in your lap. Show us a picture or two of that old girl driving wedges in one of those prehistoric giants you all call trees.

Boy what a find! Gorgeous man!
That's a really nice one man! Congratulations on that score! Doesn't seem that the Rockaway was all that popular even back in the day. Either that or they were used professionally and actually used up. Because there sure isn't an over- abundance of them now! Especially in great shape like yours. I had to chime in on it..;) Awesome sauce! :D:thumbsup::D
