I sure will carry both when I'm going camping in the winter - if I'm going by skiis and sled.
but all I want is to rob someone blind ... just once.
Cleanouts guys are your friend.
That vise looks fantastic.
It's ridiculous. A Parker 4X, it's a 5.5" vice and weighs WELL over 100lbs.
And the guy who knows the Cleanouts guy!
These followed me home from Maine from JBlyttles small collection tools lol.
Great stuff.
3.5 Littlestown No. 115 vise
24oz Vaughn ball peen
32oz ball peen
2.5# ATHA cross peen hammer
All of them are in great condition. Probably should have taken a photo of the before cleaning but the difference in cleaning left 3 different finishes on the hammers. The vice was just angle grinder brass wheeled- shes clean.
For example, the 24oz hammer was wire wheeled then dropped in vinegar overnight with a wipe-off then some WD-40 dark.
Next to it is that 32oz hammer with wire wheel only then WD-40 darker.
The 2.5# cross peen was a wire brushed by hand, steel wool, then WD-40 darkest.
Of course they all were not uniform in corrosion but I am liking the less is more approach more and more.
Props to JB here on the forum Trust-worthy and generous character.
*please dont take this as an advertisement, Im just happy with the tools and he is an active member here and as they came from him thought it appropriate to mention.
Definitely got more than I bargained for![]()
I like the darkest anvil right in the center of the bottom picture.
