Its 1996....what's your EDC today?

I graduated high school in 1996
Gerber Gator Folder
Ka-Bar USMC Fighting Knife(I used to carry it to school strapped on my ankle, talk about big trouble if I had gotten caught with it)

Was working ems in and around Boston at the time. Usually carried a Gerber or leatherman multi-tool, Buck 110 and or Benchmade CQC-7 and my mag -charger and trauma shears and a whole lot of gloves on person. Gerber guardian boot knife was also carried depending on where I was putting in my shift.

Great thread- In '96 I was 21 and carrying either my Vic adventurer or a Gerber E-Z out. The E-Z out my first one handed opener. I also carried an early Gerber multitool at work, I remember choosing the Gerber over the leatherman because I liked the way it opened and because the pliers were the blunt nose style. That thing would sure pinch your hand if you weren't careful.

Hmmmmm. Thought about this and motivated myself to do a little digging around the house. Miraculously, I managed to unearth all 5 of them:

At work it would have likely been a Mini-Buck 425 or a USA made in Portland OR Gerber LST. Both with a 2 inch blade. In the pocket of my leather, while riding my old Shovelhead, it would be my early edition Leatherman.

The rest of the time it would likely have been my Schrade Single blade (3.25 inch) Trapper 194OT with the brass liner lock. Just found it in the drawer where I thought it would be, along with an older Endura that I might have had with me if the situation called for it. I grabbed the Schrade, wiped it off with some Simichrome, and passed it over the stone a few times. It's like a razor right now. Thinking I might tote it along for a few days for old times sake. The old Carbon steel Schrades were great. Made in Ellenville, NY if memory serves me. My local independent hardware store used to have blowouts on them the first week of November every year, to coincide with hunting season. I remember buying a bunch of the Trappers for $5.95 each. Still have this one I've carried, and one in a bubble pack. About 6 months ago a buddy of mine was lamenting that he'd recently lost his that he'd carried since he bought it in a Navy PX many, many years ago. You should have seen his face when I tossed him one in a bubble pack, he couldn't believe it.

Fun thread, thanx.

Benchmade Emerson CQC-7 & a Victorinox Huntsman with Black scales. Sometimes the BM CQC-7 was swapped out for a Spyderco Delica with a combo-edge or a Benchmade AFCK. The Spyderco got given to a soldier in my squad in need of a good knife. The Vic Huntman got lost in the back 40 of Ft. Campbell due to me laying it down & not being able to spot it in the fading light - only get brightly colored SAKs now. It was replaced with my Gerber multi-tool. The original with non-locking blades that gave you good blood blisters. Still have the BM CQC-7 & Gerber multi-tool.

In '96 I was carrying a SE Endura. I remember because the dang plastic pocket-clip broke off several times but I always bought another...still have a couple of those old ones in my gear storage, broke off clip and all, lol. Also, an early Leatherman.

Rostfrei Balisong, Larger 5 inch Korean Balisong, Latherman Supertools.

The Leatherman is still with me now. Wait a sec, it got stolen (came with leather sheath), the one with me now is the backup (nylon sheath). Both sporting US Patent Pending (bought them in 1995, but how long they've been sitting in the shop, I couldn't guess)
