It's Old Timer time, fellas: Show your U.S.-made OTs

This used to be my main user 8ot. It has since been sold. The snap was too light for my taste and I finally got tired of that. I got some good mileage out of it...

This is the one I replaced it with. Much better snap but about the same condition otherwise.

Should something happen to the above 8ot this one is next in line if I want to stick with the brown sawcut delrin theme. As long as I find great condition 4" schrade stockmans at good prices I will probably never stop buying them, they're irresistible.

This has been a great read. Theres some really cool stuff out there, I especially love the red smooth bone set someone had on here! I have only ever had a couple old Schrades, I gave one to my brother, one to my sister, and I sold a tiny stockman. That knife was so hard to open, and the blade rub made it even tougher. I just won 2 bids the other day though, for an old timer 34ot and a uncle henry 897uh. I cant wait to get my knives, Schrade made some great stuff.

Another one of those Schrade X-files:
After a carpenters whittler that I gave my brother in law for Christmas, I was missing a Schrade so I bid in a couple but on the low side.
I won this 34ot for 15$ the description said carbon steel, blades were almost full albeit with a nightmare of a sharpening job on the main.
Anyway I was thrilled because I wanted to try the size for a while, it arrived yesterday and the BLADES ARE STAINLESS!! but the springs seem to be carbon ????
I suppose is one of the mixed parts knives, but by the stamp should be carbon, shouldn’t it?

It took a really good edge in a pinch though

Schrade didn't stamp an indication of the steel on carbon knives because it was the status quo steel. Most stainless knives were marked in some way but a few weren't. Why do you think yours is stainless?

I suspected it at first because they were literally spotless even in the tangs, and that in an old knife isn’t usually the case.
To confirm I cut some strawberries yesterday letting it sit a while without wiping it, this should have stained the blade instantly, but didn’t.

Wondering why there is little love for the 123OT?

Probabaly because it was only made a few years and flies under the radar. I have love for it. In addition to the OT and UH variations there is a third variation commemorating the statue of liberty and it has bone handles. I don't have a 123 yet but I have the uncle henry version.
