It's only 4:30 and I already have chemical burns...

Thats how you know I finally got fed up with the coating on my NMFBM.

The coating holds up a lot better to the stripper than my skin does. No matter how many times I do it, I always forget to wear gloves, so it's constant trips to the sink.

I can't afford 800+ for the LE version, but I have a belt sander, and some stripper.. so let the games begin!

Update -

Here she is, my NMFBM GLE (Ghetto LE)

I'm happy with it for my first time trying to give a knife a satin finish

230 you really shoud wear some heavy duty rubber gloves messing with that stuff. It may take awhile.

I'd put some glasses on, too. That stuff's no fun in the eyes.

You got some in-progress pics?

Yeah, I know. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. I couldn't find any gloves so I said screw it haha.

Just as I suspected, the blade under the sage coating is black... I've got my work cut out for me.

I've got the safety glasses on, I don't mind a minor burn or two, I even cut myself already and got some stripper in there but I don't mess with my eyes.

I'll get a progress pic, it's still soaking.

So you couldn't get the coating off through use you big sissy! :)

Can't wait to see the pics!

How long are you leaving the stripper on? I have used all kinds of strippers and they bubble the coating up after about 15 minutes and whatever doesn't come off the first wipe, I put on more. It doesn't require much effort IMHO.

Give the stripper a little more time.
