It's raining Slysz Bowies Halleluyah!

How do you know he didn't? His real identity isn't known right?... he could have been buying them and reselling on ebay/kijiji etc etc without anyone being the wiser.

I'm a bit surprised he commands such a hype factor, he's only got 70k subscribers
It's a tight community. People would have figured it out, word would spread. Unless you are claiming @NickShabazz is some sort of mastermind flipper scumbag?

Don't throw around ridiculous accusations.

And subs don't equal legitimacy.

I watch a lot of Nick's videos because of the consistency of the break down he does on every knife and the high quality video he does (essentially getting a great look at the knives). I rarely agree with his assessments. Just different tastes.

I didn't think this knife was worth it when it came out and I certainly wouldn't buy one now. Too small of a blade for the package and the all ti is a turn off. Once again, just not my preference.

As evidenced by previous posts in this thread, I gain nothing from defending NS. I have no stake in this. I dont follow him nor watch any his reviews apart from a few reviews in the past to get an impression/gain an opinion.
That being said, I must say with respect to all involved, that I thought the accusation rather harsh.
Unless one has some sort of proof, throwing something like that out there with the potential ramifiations is not the done thing. Especially if grabbed out of thin air.
Maybe delete the theory/accusation?
Just a suggestion. Not my pig not my farm.

He what now ... ?o_O
Ohh, you mean after he hyped it (which makes even LESS senseo_O. Not referring to your post but to a YTer raving and then trying to 'dampen' the enthuiasm, if that is the case. I dont know, as I dont rely on YT/NS for my knife purchases).

I dont personally follow NS. Speaking in general terms, Ill never understand the hold these YTers have over the general public. Be it the recently mentioned Survival Lilly or NS (no comparson intended). But hey, if they can make a buck more power to them.
As for the Bowie, I like it a lot and would like to own one. Just not about to pay $400-500.
I agree that the attempt to dampen the fervor for the knife is mostly undone by the gushing reviews. This is particularly the case when the gushing has occurred in a very recent video. I don’t know anything about the person behind the YouTube personality we see as Nick Shabazz, but I get the feeling he’s not completely self-aware of the impact he has on many of his viewers. That’s just a gut feeling, though.

In a larger sense, what we see in the knife reviewer world is only a microcosm of the Social Media sensation. Consider some of the e-Sports celebs who’ve become millionaires for nothing more than live-streaming themselves playing a video game while making banter. The entire phenomenon is alien and bizarre to me!

I think it’s a little reckless and uncharitable to even make this suggestion. A lot of knives pass through Nick’s hands and he generates a lot of cash for charity through Patreon.

Without any evidence, this kind of postulation should probably be kept to oneself.

I've got a slysz bowie. I like it alot
Got it really really cheap. It's a worthy gentlemans knife for map pricing of its time. I would not buy one in today's market.

You can buy a Slysz custom instead. Though I dunno his prices I'd rather save up and get a custom than pay 400+

Pretty sure he was joking.

Right.
Not to mention that a young woman becomes a self-made billionaire though doing sbsolutely nothing but selfies. Topsy-turvy.

please re-read what I typed, I make the suggestion that is was possible, and we wouldn't be any wiser. That was the real point and it remains true.
I have no information that he actually did or didn't buy a bunch of slysz's to resell.

I bought mine because its the only Spyderco Ive seen that I liked and im happy with it. yes it was overpriced but not any worse than some of my other knives I paid MAP on lol. I can afford it at what I paid so no biggie.

Anyhing is possible but with no shread of evidence, why even put it out there.

That was the real point and it remains true.
Again with respect; "Is this the hill you want to die on?"

Edit: not worth it.

Lots of things are possible. This isn't the part of the forum where we throw about baseless possibilities. What you said is unbecoming in several ways.

That's a lot of spinach for a relatively boring Spyderco. I'd rather put that money towards a custom or a nice used inkosi CF or inlayed.

craytab craytab , Hackenslash Hackenslash , & BladeScout BladeScout - please stop being ridiculous.

SOMEONE ELSE said good thing he's not flipping, I make a simple reply & point out that we don't really know, because his identity is unknown, and somehow that translates to me accusing him of flipping? Have you guys really lost your marbles? Stop making up nonsense and trying to crucify me for your made up nonsense.
I never said NS flips, ever. Full stop.

I know you guys can get worked up, but come on, I know you're all capable of more advanced logic than this.

Are you all really going to continue to accuse me of saying NS flips, when I CLEARLY make the point that his anonymity means we cannot know whether he does or doesn't?

I truly hope we are talking amongst adults here, who are capable of more logic

Plenty of people know him and know he doesn't do what you have said you don't know if he does or doesn't do. See the problem there? Shall we speculate about what you might maybe do or don't do?

Who needs to act like an adult...

I’m offended. My logic is incredibly advanced.

In the meantime, I’d love to hear about what you think I do...

Anyway, I think most of us agree that the post-cancellation price increase of the Spyderco Slysz Bowie probably isn’t part of some nefarious plan to corner the secondary knife market by Nick Shabazz.

I bet his sharks don’t even have lasers.

Does anyone know what a full custom Marcin Slysz costs? I wonder if you can buy one for the aftermarket price of two Bowies. That’d be a reveal.

When Trump met with Putin with only a translator -- a highly unorthodox move -- I am not saying that he did something nefarious, I am ONLY SAYING THAT IT WAS POSSIBLE that he transmitted state secrets, and I clearly have no opinion on the matter one way or the other, nor should my describing this POSSIBILITY influence your perspective in any way.

:eek:First of all, thats blasphemy. Because Ti Millie.

I have both the K2 and the aforementioned CQI TI Millie. Personally, I dont need my folders to look 'intimidating,' but the Ti Millie is at least as efficient looking - or 'intimidatng' if you will - as the K2. Both are excellent slicers.

I agree that both are excellent slicers but I prefer black G10 on my Millie (as I do on most of my other Spyders) and, like the Millie and K2, I have a preference for long, pointy and "intimidating" looking blades, which rank much higher on my knife "like" list than do knives w/other kinds of blades regardless of the type of scale/handle material used. ;)
