If your wife won't eat it, that just leaves more for you.:D

That looks fantastic.

Haha. Thanks. And that's what I said. I asked her once tonight "hey babe, try this awesome deer. " she said no and I just smiled and didn't bother her again. Lol

Really? Is it available in the states?

Yes, you can even order it online if you cant find a local place. I have ordered it online in the past. But now i found a local place that sells it and a lot of other game meats as well.

Check out all the different meats they have...

crap I need to get out of my life.
and no, I did not choose this... thing.
The steel on the big 'blade' appears to be carbon spring steel of some kind. Maybe I could cut it down and re-handle it? bleh.
How do you throw away a sword? bring it to the salvage yard, probably. shipping? how the hell would I package that?
Maybe I should plunge it into the backyard and leave it there. But it's so UGLY!

Looks like something you could unload at a Juggalo gathering pretty quickly. Of course if you're at a Juggalo gathering, it may be something you'd want to keep for protection.

Wow! Thanks for the link. Looks like they have everything. I will try some for sure.

And I see they have alligator and frog legs. I'm from south LA and used to catch gators and frogs every year when I lived there, and must say that they are amazing as well if cooked right.

Yea man no problem!!! Thats a local place to me so im not sure if/how they do online orders but there are online sites that sell roo meat. When i ordered it online it was from another site. There are probably closer places to you as well. I was just showing the variety of meat at the local place i use really.

And im from Florida, I have enjoyed some delicious gator and frog legs myself as well!! Good eating.

That looks delicious! If you ever get the chance, try a kangaroo steak, great meat!

I like Kangaroo better than venison. And I like venison a lot. I first got to sample it in Perth back in 1982. I was a little skeptical at first, because I was under the impression that a kangaroo was the equivalent of a big jumping rat (Yes, I knew it was really a marsupial, but, dang, it LOOKS like a rat on steroids).

I finally let this woman convince me to try it. :D I did find that it seemed to be easy to overcook it, though.

I wish it wasn't so expensive here. The last time I priced it, it was like $25/lb. Now, it seems like it's running $30/lb and up, depending on the cut.

I also found a place that carries rattlesnake meat - reg $299/2 lb on sale for $199/2lb. That would mean I probably have $10-$15,000 hiding out under the barn.

daizee go bang it against a tree or board until it breaks.

do some destruction test with them....

daizee, take them to a pawn shop, so that some awesome kid may buy them and start making epic youtube videos with them.

So I finally ordered some new stropping compound the other day. For the last year or so I have just been using some white compound that I got at the leather store to sharpen my tools for leather working and then some green compound I got at the woodworking store to sharpen my chisels and blades for my hand planes.

So far they have been pretty good. But the new ones I got were from Bark River.
I found a three pack for a good deal. It was a black, a green, and a white.

So I made a new strop today and tried out the green and white and man, what a difference! So much better than what I've been using. My Bk-16 has a mirror edge on it and cuts like never before. I was able to get them sharp before but I believe the Bark River compound is a lot better than what I have been using.

What stuff do y'all use?

Im still using a strop i got from leethal cutlery over a year ago that he sent loaded with green compound on one part and diamond paste on another and bare leather on the opposite side. Its a 3 stage strop, works great...

Apparently they're making a movie out of the Cheryl Strayed book, "Wild". It's got Reese Witherspoon in it, maybe she'll go topless for a scene. The book was great, don't know how well it'll translate into film.

I have that book in my office. Haven't read it yet, but now I'm going to be picturing a topless RW the whole time. Life could be worse.

I know it's cool to hate Starbucks, but their Komodo Dragon blend is excellent. I got a pound of it last night and it kicks ass.

Starbucks makes some decent stuff, and they are good to employees. I like Starbucks.

Cooked some deer backstrap tonight and thought I'd share. And damn it was so good.

I know someone brought it up earlier about deer meat or something.
Yes deer is way better than beef in my opinion. And a lot leaner and better for ya.
And if you don't hunt your food and clean your own deer then how do you justify all your knifes to your wife.
That's the real reason I hunt. So I can buy more knives. Haha

damn.

Yesterday's loop was muddy but good. We did the four-mile Long Hunter Day Loop, much of which runs along the lake shore. We broke trail for a long spell and wandered the lake shore. When the lake is at winter pool, you can often find lures that fishermen have lost in the rocks. No luck yesterday though.

I made hot chocolate for the children with the Snow Peak Litemax. I also made myself some tea with my little tea kit, a Bushbox Micro paired with a Gram Weenie burner.

The new Camelbak HAWG was impressive. I had it stuffed out with all kinds of gear I didn't need, was carrying 2L of water in the bladder plus an extra canteen of water, and it rode comfortably. I think it's going to be a great day pack.

Looks like a really great outing! Made me realize that I also need a new backpack now that I have a BK patch. One with velcro.
