It's snark in here.

That is a good looking pack Biscuit. Looks like it will hold quite a few stoves and plenty of attachment for additional and backup stoves. I like it.

I know it's cool to hate Starbucks, but their Komodo Dragon blend is excellent. I got a pound of it last night and it kicks ass.

Are you a coffee connoisseur?

I don't hate them, but I would rather go to a local place with some character. I probably got this from my 22-year old daughter who worked at "Sweet Eugene's House of Java" in College Station, Texas, when she was in college at A&M.

Now that she graduated, she is a coffee professional. Not exactly using her Communications degree, but she is the roaster and an assistant trader for a coffee importer here in Texas. They have warehouses on the east, west and Gulf coasts, but samples go to the headquarters. She catalogs them, roasts, grinds, and brews a half dozen or more samples each day, then her and a couple of QC people sample them and she tracks the results and looks for quality trends. They generally taste the coffee, then spit it out, which seems terrible to me. She also mostly drinks tea at home now....

That looks incredible Dex. Damn.

Yes, it does!

If your wife won't eat it, that just leaves more for you.:D

That looks fantastic.

Haha. Thanks. And that's what I said. I asked her once tonight "hey babe, try this awesome deer. " she said no and I just smiled and didn't bother her again. Lol

My daughter, the coffee professional, is also a bit of a hipster and borderline vegetarian. She generally prefers fish or fowl over red meat. She had the salmon at Christmas and none of the prime rib. However, at Thanksgiving, I made a backstrap from the wild pig that I shot and she had some of that along with the turkey. I pointed out that it was all natural, with no growth hormones or immunizations, so she tried it and did enjoy it. Me being a fabulous cook also helps.... :D

I might be able to strap a Lodge Sportsman's Grill to the bottom.

I tried gator once and really liked it. I'd like to try rattlesnake but not at those prices

I have this mental image of Guyon sitting cross-legged under the full moon in a clearing in the woods with a maniacal grin on his face, surrounded by all his stoves, all burning brightly... like some bizarre secret pagan ritual....

That reminds me. I'm low on denatured alcohol.

If ya'll are *ahem* "fans" of Reese Witherspoon, ya might want to check out a movie that shares the same name as a franchise based on a sparkly emo vampire and his girlfriend. If you're reading this and you're under 18 then just disregard and go play with your knives some more.

I'll chip in a buck or two if you promise to have that picture taken :p

Got headbutted by the dog and he broke my glasses. Not a great way to start the day...

Headbutt him right back... it's the only thing they understand... no wait, I've met your dogs... that's probably not a good idea. Sorry about your specs, that's no fun and gets expensive real quick :(

The good news is, this look is no longer nerdy, it's really quite hip and trendy!

I'm working on an ultralight system for stove carry. I'm making ankle holsters for micro rockets and I'm converting a DD cup bra to hold two MSR canisters. I'll try to get some pictures posted when it's done.

LOL! I'll have to give that look some thought!

Brilliant.

So I finally ordered some new stropping compound the other day. For the last year or so I have just been using some white compound that I got at the leather store to sharpen my tools for leather working and then some green compound I got at the woodworking store to sharpen my chisels and blades for my hand planes.

So far they have been pretty good. But the new ones I got were from Bark River.
I found a three pack for a good deal. It was a black, a green, and a white.

So I made a new strop today and tried out the green and white and man, what a difference! So much better than what I've been using. My Bk-16 has a mirror edge on it and cuts like never before. I was able to get them sharp before but I believe the Bark River compound is a lot better than what I have been using.

What stuff do y'all use?

I have some compound I got from harbor freight and I have often wondered if knife specific compounds wouldn't work a lot better.. looks like I need to order some..

And that plate full of backstrap looked completely awesome! I'm just down the street next time you need someone to help clean that up ;)
