It's snark in here.

HOLY frickin' FLASHBACK! Just was scrolling through the guide on tv, Flight of the Phoenix is on. The OLD one not the remake. Man, I haven't seen this thing in like 15 to 20 years. Jimmy Stewart, Richard Attenborough, Peter Finch, Ernest Borgnine!

Definitely a classic!

Well, the PassAround I've been promising has begun. Every time I do this I feel like a parent nervously sending his kid off to their first day of school :o :p

In other news, we went up to Cade's Cove for a picnic earlier today. The weather was very pleasant and mild, and I'm pleased to report that the deer and turkeys did not all freeze in the recent cold spell. :)

woohoo!
did you pack it a lunch?

Just started watching Helix - half way into the first episode. Good so far. Fingers crossed.

Im going to watch that one too!! Im just catching up on Banshee first, that way there is a couple episodes of helix available when im ready to start it.

The wife already watched the first episode of Helix though, and she said she liked it. But i cant always go off her taste for TV LMAO, after all she loves the walking dead, i dont. I loved Fringe, she didnt care for it. We both really liked supernatural though. And now we both like Almost Human, but she doesnt care for blacklist, and i love that show.

Now, I finally understand the need for all those packs and stoves. Having a dedicated stove/pack/fuel system for each food item is brilliant!:D

You jest, but I almost took my JetBoil to make some coffee. ;)

Zapped some calories with a 7-mile hike this afternoon, so I just crushed some Olive Garden (we had a $25 gift card).
It's weird, but I'm at the point where, if I do exercise, I almost have trouble eating back all the calories. I'm trying to maintain rather than lose weight at this point though.
I think I just need to go high-cal (nuts, trail mix, etc.) when I need to break even. Anybody do those protein shakes? That might work too.

I have a buddy who was the son of the owner of a large fastener corporation in Sydney (not sure which one) but I know the company made screws, bolts, nuts and washers that sold almost exclusively to the government over there. When the company was sold he took a 3 month holiday to Dubai, LA, Chicago, Miami, and New York.

Sounds like he had a good holiday!

There are a couple of easier to build designs floating around; MAKE and instructables come to mind - it is something I've looked into vis-a-vis 3d router copying wood scales.....but I really don't need to lust after any more tools; I really, really, really should use the multitude of them I already have. And clear a space for the 2x42 grinder I got (myself) for Christmas.

the metal one he ends up with is fine

what i need to do is setup a SHOPPE in my basement, and organize all of my tools...

i don't really have anything QUALITY. a table saw and precision drill would be nice. a router. maybe a rail saw?

then i could do such things as make a floor loom :D

and many shelves

and fix a great many things...

course, at that point, you start LOOKING for projects ;)

The combo to open the safe
Where is this safe? Also, what is in this safe? Anything worth going in to it for? :D

Freakin wind. 44° out, but 25mph winds.
It's beautiful here today. I spent the day inside (unfortunately) however it was my day to take care of papa so it's alright. Did manage to go grill some hamburgers for lunch.

They's everywhere!
It's the "Springfield" of the midwest!

I do Shakeology. It is actually not bad. I usually do it in the morning, do the chocolate with peanut butter and milk and some fruit. The fruit really helps to mask the taste.

Olive Garden isn't that horrible. Their breadsticks aren't like what I remember from when I was a kid, although the salad is. They are also (in this area) doing a special where you order one meal, and you get a second meal to go for free. Is it the greatest, no. However it's two pretty decent meals for the price of one. My tastebuds have a hard time drowning out my wallet when both are shouting at me.

Flight of the navigator, that brings back some memories! Loved The Last Starfighter too!
There was another movie, a disney movie, where these three kids created this bubble that went around a tilt-a-whirl car. They took that into space. I have NO CLUE what movie it was but I remember LOVING it when I was a kid.

ETA: It wasn't a Disney movie. I just googled it and it's called Explorers. With Ethan Hawke and River Phoenix.

Another movie I grew up loving was Hatari with The Duke.
