Yah I want to say it was a mossberg or possibly an old marlin? Pretty sure the intention was just a straight up hunting gun for fowl or deer. It had a pretty long barrel to boot. Anyways you still have a pretty nice find there.

Marlin and maybe J.C. Higgens and probably some others.

Yeah, I dig it. Just found out the shop with the other shotgun I didn't get is partnered with a shooting range here (the only one with openings in their membership) and they give discounts to members. Think I'll go back and sign up (need a place to shoot anyway) and maybe bring that other gun home and try to decide which one to chop down to 18"

Just got a text from Official Ka-Bar, don't worry they're keeping Uncle Weird Beard busy.

Kind of long, but funny.

I had a cat like that once. He was fun as hell, but he would always wake me up by finding some part of me he could put his teeth on and slowly increase pressure until I woke up and scattered him. Right up until the incident with my ear, in which he became airborne. After that, he just slept in with me until I woke up....breathing cat breath shotguns.

Polypropylene sock liners. Do you wear them when you hike? Does it depend on the weather? etc?

Never had em before, although i've never done any overly-strenuous hikes (no more than a couple miles, generally). They were suggested to me recently.

Seeing as they're just a couple bucks, maybe i should grab a pair or three.

Now that's a lot better! Johnson hits a couple of home runs.

Anybody else see True Detective with Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey on HBO? I was blown away. Can't wait for the next episode.

They can help depending on the situation. We usually use a liner sock under a heavier insulating/cushioning sock (synthetic or wool blend) when alpine/ice climbing. They are also useful on longer hikes when you are carrying heavier packs and using stiffer boots. Never needed them with lighter footwear on shorter approaches.

What are you looking to do?

I knew about the Gamechanger but tell me more about that top one.

So I went back and signed up for my membership to the shooting range. As soon as that was done I bought that other shotgun, got him down to $95 OTD same as the other. I'm going to have one cut back to an ~18" barrel and have the bead sight re-installed.

BTW have you ever seen a bolt action shotgun with an adjustable choke? The one I have use was prone to jamming but the choke idea was kind of novel. Essentially the choke was built into the barrel (looked kinda like a suppressor) and you would just turn it to pre-marked points to choke the gun how you liked. I cannot for the life in me remember who the maker was, but it was found for about 50-60 bucks private sale. Pretty sure it was a 16ga, weird but cool at the same time.

I had a Stevens 12 gauge that had a 3 round magazine, bolt action, and adjustable choke.. It was for goose hunting and had a really long barrel.. My great aunt gave it to me when I was about 16 and it was old then.. I loved that old gun and could get 3 shots off in as short a time as my friends with pumps.. Went on a dove hunt with a bunch of Ithaca and Browning toting shooters and got a bunch of friendly ribbing over my old junker.. but I was the only one to limit out, lol. It got stolen with my single shot .410 that was my first real gun, I got it for Christmas when I was 8... I wish I had both of them back now.. I would have loved to give that 410 to my son.

Very cool, but sucks that they got stolen. I can only imagine how upset I would be.

These look like some very nice blades and sheaths!

Here is the old teaser from KA-BAR

Hope KA-BAR doesnt mind me throwing these out on the forum. I am just excited for new stuff.

I wanna see more of the bottom one on the far right and the bottom one on the far left.

Looks kind of like the Benchmade Snody Activator with a swedge, micarta, and a little different handle. I wonder what steel these are going to be made out of. Its either going to be something high end, or some KA-BAR 440C. I can see the 440C because it would make them more affordable.

BTW to all... these are all coming from KA-BAR's facespace. They havent posted anything to the forums yet. So if you are interested that is where they have been putting stuff from shot.

What's the steel on those snody collabs? Also s35vn like on the one a couple of pages ago? Any ideas of MSRP?
Still psyched for the Becker stuff... if any?

They didnt specify steel or msrp. Just a photo with a short tag. I would suspect its going to be 440C or some sort of high end stainless. AND YES I hope hope hope for some Becker stuff!
