Its Thursday!

Those two new model (Warthog XL) knives turned out nice. Also like the 3/32" blackwood Mamushi with TT!

Thanks Harland! I am going with the name Razorback on the new model. The Mamushi turned out really nice too. Its so hard to photograph the brown hues in the Blackwood. This piece has alot of nice character in it.

ahhh, this batch is pretty incredible. You wood loving guys and gals would be nuts to leave any of these once they go live. Koa always looks nice, blackwood is a favorite of mine, but that flamed BEB trailhand looks amazing.

I'd give up a thunderstorm kevlar Mamushi for that blackwood handled one! Please claim that fast, someone, please.

Note that its African Blackwood, which usually has more browns in it and isn't quite near black as Blackwood. Both are awesome, don't get me wrong, but I did learn this the hard way .. expecting one thing and getting something slightly different.

I agree that the whole lot is not likely to be around very long.

Warrior, given the confusion regarding names, what species are you referring to when you mention blackwood as a different species than African blackwood?

Yeah, I loosely use 'blackwood' for african blackwood when talking Fiddlebacks et al as that is the common/if not all used blackwood variant. It's great, dense and heavy stuff. Ebony (unless you're talking a wood i'm unfamiliar with) is nice and all, i'd just go black g10 instead :) Hues are difficult to capture but I guarantee this Mamushi is puuurdy

Look at the Bushfinger I just sold in the Fiddleback market. I don't know species but that one was listed simply as blackwood and was really dark, almost black. Shi was another Ladyfinger that passed from me to Scotcha. Then I bought an African blackwood Hiking Buddy to go with the Bushfinger and it was almost a chocolate brown. It seemed less dense too, just by looks.

Yeah man, African blackwood exhibits different hues. The only example I have here has reddish/purple tones, but I have had one that had more brownish tones like wenge or something. I've seen some pretty dark examples as well. If that was product of how it was finished or soaked in whatever oil I dunno. Mislabeled wood, I dunno. I do know African Blackwood is one of the few wood handles I would actually buy. It's awesome. Someone buy that Mamushi!

Blackwood and African blackwood typically both refer to Dalbergia melanoxylon. Ebony refers to several Diospyros species.

Finishing up my batch for tonight, there are some nice wood handles on these blades. See you tonight 8:45ish preview 9pm EST Unlock

Your Quick Jerry, Nice grab! This is a really nice piece of Amboyna

Thanks Chris!

Rather than mung up the sale thread, I thought I'd do comments over here (similar to the Fiddleback Well Its Friday thread).

There must be an internet outage or something. I can't believe there weren't others going for that Mamushi or any of the other knives right at post time. They're all really nice looking. And I don't neeeeed another Mamushi but that one looks especially nice and I couldn't pass it up. I'll bet its even nicer looking in person.

btw, I was sweating that post because I'm not at my house where I have 110GB connection. I'm out in the sticks with a 2GB, maybe 3GB connection. The refreshes were taking forever and it took 15 seconds for the post to show up and appear.

The burl on that Mamushi is very nice, great choice. The black ash on the Warthog looks pretty special too

Appreciate it Jerry! I am a big fan of Amboyna Burl. One of the interesting facts about it, is it has antimicrobial properties too it. So it makes for a really beautiful and hygenic handle.

It is a Really nice piece of Black Ash, The Trail Hand for me was the most visually interesting the spalting in it has a nice violet hue to it. And who doesnt like Bubinga, I think Andy told me the figure in it is called waterfall, I havent seen much of it like this.

Great looking handle on the Warthog. I am really digging the Raptor as well and toxic green is not something I usually look at. Sweet little batch of knives tonight
