It's time to scratch that itch again - BEEFY KNIVES. SUGGEST 'EM. POST PICTURES.

Andre de Villiers Butcher

Absolutely already on the list. I had missed out on a blackwash version for $350 on USN about a week ago because it took me that much longer to type out "Oh my god yes I will take that" than it took someone else to just PM the guy "I'll take it" :(

SMF. On the list.

My suggestion would likely not fit due to your lock back restriction but here goes.

The soon to be available Cold Steel 4-Max is going to be beefy with strength to match.
Outside of that, Benchmade Adamas, Ontario Hossom Retribution 1

The 4-Max was a knife I was extremely excited about until I checked the specs. It's stupid heavy and the blade:handle ratio is just ridiculous. I might end up getting one anyway, but I'm definitely going to need to handle one, or something. Maybe there will be a passaround.

There's an Adamas sitting on my bathroom counter right now, next to my other EDC knives. I want to like the Adamas, but it's something like an inch and a quarter thick. It's like carrying around two harmonicas stacked on top of each other - and for no good reason! It's not like there's a nice sturdy framelock... Nope, just an Axis lock like any other. Sigh.
The Benchmade 760 is one of the beefiest that I own, might be hard to find these days though. The blade is so heavy it almost unbalances the whole knife.

I've been lusting after an LFTI for so long that it's just sad now. They never come up at the price I'm willing to pay when I actually have spare money.

The Spyderco Vallotton is also pretty beefy, in that it has thick liners and a relatively thick blade.

That's a knife I have had twice and should never have gotten rid of. I traded one, sold the other, miss both.

Bad Blood Dreadnaught or Urban Mistress for big and beefy on the cheap.

I've had their Persian knife, and it was... Okay. I may have to check out the Urban Mistress. That must have come out recently and quietly, because I was really looking into Bad Blood just 4 months or so ago, and don't recall seeing that.

Andre de villiars tactical butcher. It was 480 new so it's a little beyond your price range but it's beefy as hell and extremely well made. uploadfromtaptalk1425706908934.jpguploadfromtaptalk1425706908934.jpguploadfromtaptalk1425706908934.jpguploadfromtaptalk1425706908934.jpg

Almost forgot. the southern grind Bad monkey, Brous blades makes a variety if you don't mind lighter weight. There's the triple threat folder, the division, the reloader, and the t4 tanium

My first thought was a Strider SNG. The knife is bullet proof. Pick your blade or color👍👍
Here's the challenge: NO ZTs.

It's not that none of them might fit the bill, it's just that I have handled pretty much everything but an 888, 454, and a 392, so I'm familiar with what's out there in that regard. I'm not for assisted knives at all, so the 300 series is right out as I don't like to gamble with finding a good "de-assistable" one OR voiding my warranty by drilling a detent hole.

Roughly, the parameters are:
Blade (read: available cutting surface) length of at least 3.25"
Not a lockback
Unassisted
No serrations
Under $400 for a reasonably good condition iteration of the knife
Pocket clip positionable for tip-up carry

Pretty much everything else is free form. It just needs to be big, lock open, not have a spring or serrations, and be cheap enough that I can justify using it.

Well, I was not suggesting an Adamas. I was suggesting a Loco.
I will not enter into a debate with you because that would be a waste of time for both of us (judging by your attitude).
However, if you think the axis lock on an Adamas (or a Loco) is "just an Axis lock like any other" then you my friend need glasses.
My suggestion would be to sell your Adamas, there are many here who would buy it, for the right price (myself included).
Then you will have more money to spend on that big HD frame lock you are looking for.
Just a thought....good luck on your quest.

Wow...Miss. Crabbypants woke up on the wrong side of the bed!?
Scratch that and my apologies for being such an ass.
My suggestion would be something from Lionsteel.
I have a couple of their folders and have nothing bad to say about either one.
Well, except for the added weight which I feel is to be expected for such a HD knife.

Beefcake for the cheapskate.

For me, I'm used to spending $1k+ to get what I want. This knife (with new steel and stonewashed finish) is perfect and fills all my requirements... for a measly $109.

Boker f3 with its .19 thick s30v blade. For the price you can't beat it if thats what your looking for. Im still shocked that its a boker with how great a job they did.

Surprised nobody has mentioned a D.O.C. Mine is definitely my "beefiest" folder, but besides being a beast it's smooth, solid, and has a great fit and finish.

I might end up settling for the DOC I have, but I do really want to check out a Vox F3. I paid so little for the DOC that I could actually justify using it - and the vox F3 pushes a lot of my buttons except for the blade length and shape. It's not super utilitarian... :/

How about the Fantoni HB01. It's even available in s125v if you willing to go up in price a bit. The s30v version can be had for just over $200.
