I've been Rupled again!!

Picked up two from Don in Atlanta and ordered Stout's second "Peanut". (Danbo got the first. Bastid!;) )

Sorry to hijack this amazing thread, but out of shear coincidence... I saw Danbo's Stout slipjoint today! He was zipping through my neighborhood and we met up for lunch and the usual "Danbo show and tell" at my house. Nice little slipjoint! Looks like this Stout feller is pretty talented.

I am thoroughly enjoying all the beautiful Ruple pics, I hope they keep coming!

(man, I just re-read my post, and the part of the sentence "I saw Danbo's Stout slipjoint today" looks REALLY REALLY WRONG!;) No, that is not "code" for anything!:D )

Oh Man, Mongo,

I am so glad you clarified that first statement with "looks REALLY REALLY WRONG!..

'Cause as soon as I read it,, I LOL'd and started to formulate a reponding post..:D :D

Thanks for bringing some humor to my morning!

Thought I would add what few custom slipjoints I own and have to offer since all the other good forumites have spoken already..

The above is an Theuns Prinsloo custom liner lock with apple coral scales, knifemaker forged copper colored damascas steel and bolsters with a exhibit grade ruby thumb stud.

This is my all time favorite carry, and only sharpened once so far..

I love the little warriors that Theuns incorporates on all of his knives.. He (Mr. Prinsloo) calls them 'first people!'

Real nice knife, sunnyd! The materials really complement! I like the "first people" bolsters!!

Oh, my. Awesome knife SunnyD. If them fellers ever down that giraffe you I bet you could skin the whole thing without resharpening. I too like the cave painting like characters.

All these beootifiul knives being shown on here we're gonna need new adjectives, 'cause we're wearin the old ones out!

Thanks fellow's!.. Glad you like them. I am very fond of Theuns Prinsloo's work too. He is a relatively new maker who Blade magazine did a story on middle of last year.. Here is another one:

Scales are either desert Ironwood or Burl and more of his handmade Damascus with his anodized treatment.

His trademark is the "little first people" which I like a lot just as you guys commented on. It is on every knife he makes. Some are obvious, some are not. The above folder has them engraved on the inside of the knife on the back-spring.. I'll try to get a shot of them if the light and the camera will cooperate.;)

edited to add final photograghs:

The two best shots I could get. Hope you can make them out.

Anpther beauty, sunny, keep them coming!!
The inside backspring came out quite visible. Does this maker have a website?

They may not be slipjoints, but they are really awesome. Great style.  I'm putting Mr. Prinsloo on my watch list. Thanks for posting these sunnyd. :)

Ok, Ok, Billy,
Your right of coarse.. these customs do not have back-springs,, but what the hell so I thought, 'cause der still purdy!

Anyway, here is one with a back-spring that qualify it as a slippy:

This is one of Todd Davidson's smaller folders. This one has got the rare Snake-wood scales and a mirror polish ats34 blade with his classic file work..

AAAARRRGGGHH!!!!!!

I NEED MORE MONEY!! LOTS more money!!

Good Lord above, those are some beautiful works of art gentlemen.

Here is one that you Guyz & Galz may enjoy.. Its a 1989 Bob Cargill Cripple Creek (2) blade trapper with the most gnarly stag on both sides of the piece, that I have ever had the pleasure of owning:

..Or howz about this Cripple Creek which I cannot pin-point an exact date too:

000_0990.jpg

I have heard from several folks 1980, 1981 and 1982. I know it is post 1979 but that is the extent of my knowledge. It is an early knife because it has no date and no three leg Buffalo shield. Also it is the only Cripple Creek with a punch blade that I have ever seen..

Nice old Cargill, Tony! You gotta send me pics of his PUNCH!!!

This one is a (2) blade canoe pattern that Bob made in the 1970's so I was told before he formed up Cripple Creek..

You have a nice collection of old Bob's knives, sunnyd! More?
