I've been tempted by the dark side. Solutions ?

Hope you enjoy your new knife! I kept the scales but changed the pocket clip. The clip change really leveled up my enjoyment of the knife. I think you will really enjoy the blade geometry, these knives cut very well.

Happy slicing!

I wouldn't judge you for getting the clone for just the scales, consider it as buying the scales, not the knife. Especially when you bought the original knife. Put the scales you don't like on the knockoff and put it in a toolbox.

Or you can just use a curved file on the existing scales to get the scallops you want. Practice on a piece of wood first. Easy and satisfying!

Low profile Ti ?

I put a titanium deep carry clip and I love it. They seem to be less prone to overextending and tweaking out of form. Granted...that does increase the price point considerably which sort of negates the low price of the Rat series.

I like the Rat1 as well but can’t stand those scales either. Cheap plastic feeling crap. Just charge a little more and give me g10 Ontario. I’m okay with the d2. Ive had 4 and only one would center. They could fix that too but for the price I am being a bit nit picky in that regard.

wait? you can't get a rat1 or 2 in g10 scales??? really?... I always thought they had those

In that case you are still paying for the Ontario ripoff. Still giving the ripoff company your money. SMH

What is the point of this? SMH.
Give your money to thieves, or not give your money to thieves....why are decisions sooooo hard!!??!?:poop::rolleyes:

But the scales are nicer!!! That makes it all ok.

As long as the knife is legal for you to buy , how is it anybody else's business ? But you already know what some busybodies will say . So if you care , don't buy .

Yup. They will say "Don't steal the hard work of people we know and their give money to other people willing to steal their work to make a quick cheap buck."

Oh those busybodies.

Glad you didn't buy the "clone" and take money from the Ontario folks.

You were free to do so, of course...its a free country....but it shocks me that someone passionate about knives would consider it.
Exactly this. I'm very happy the OP did the right thing.

I'm not sure why someone supposedly passionate about knives would buy a clone knowing it is wrong. Or come here to post pictures and promote the damn things...

So if you steal somebody's car, take the stereo out, and then abandon the car...you didn't really steal the car.
Well, insurance will cover their loss, so...
For me, it comes down to the fact that I can't stand that someone (or some company) is having their hard work stolen and sold for pennies on the dollar! I won't support it or promote it!

I've had expensive things that I've worked hard to acquire stolen from me and I knew they were going to be sold to someone else for a fraction of what it cost me. That feeling really sucks!:poop: So for me, its quite simple. I don't steal and I don't buy stolen goods.
