I've got ROUGHLY $30 what knife should I buy?

Man, I would have to look at a Kershaw for a first knife, I just bought 3 Oso Sweet's from a certain site as gifts for under $20 shipped and could not be happier with how solid these knives are for the price, not sure if this is proper forum etiquette, but if you're interested private message me ans I'll give you the web address!

You can get a Buck 110 or a dozen or more Victorinox models for that price range. For a locking pocket clipped folder I want to spend more than $30.

Not a folder, but I cant help but offer, you could get a Mora no 1 and a Companion for $30 and have two great fixed blades.

Rough Rider hawk bill, half hawk and canoe. Around $10 each. Your choice of handle materials.

For a heavy folder, I agree you can't beat the Buck 110. For $35 or a little under, you can get a Victorinox Farmer as a lighter weight folder. I'd recommend the Farmer for an all-around EDC knife.

As suggested, Ontario RAT Model 1. Great knife for the money.

I bought one several years ago... and I liked it so much that I bought 10 more...

I have personal experience with the following, and can recommend them based on that experience, in no particular order:

Cold Steel Voyager medium
Cold Steel Kudu or Eland (well under your budget, stronger than and will outperform many knives 10x its price and up)
Buck Bones
Buck 110
Kershaw Oso Sweet

If you're interested in a big ol' folding tank of a knife that will stay within your budget, I'll also recommend the Cold Steel Pocket Bushman. Best used with gloves, it's not user friendly; this knife is designed for strength.
