Jack Wolf Knives - Back on Track

Have tried a few, but this Javelin model is imho, the best one yet.

Beautifully balanced, exactly and precisely made, wonderful snappy walk n talk ..........hats off t' ya, Ben

Tidy Skinner too  Great photos that really show the sinewy quality . the scales are reptilian as well...Not sure it could tackle a Rhino though...fortunately:)

A javelina (peccary) is a wild pig-like critter - I assume that’s where he got the name for this model.
.....yes, makes sense. Thank you. Being in UK, that doesn't spring to mind so much for us.!

- yes, there is most certainly an animal grace to this folder, it really is a beaut, taking its cue no doubt from the Sowbelly.

A rat - an insult, sir 😁 - I was thinking, more, an elegant rhino..!

I can see that, too!

Got it. So the manufacturer calls that a "satin" finish, which really isn't the best description I would say. It is a high end finish truth be told, but it is a certain aesthetic that is not for everyone. It changes in the light depending on how you hold it, sometimes you can't see the lines and sometimes they just pop. In that picture you commented on, there is a shadow cast onto it by my phone, which caused a bit of a dark spot. hard to avoid when I am trying to capture the grind lines. That being said, I believe they also offer hand sanded finishes, or tumbled finishes, so depending on customer feedback, I can always request different finishes. This one seems to really be popular, and I think it looks good with the rough finished Micarta and the bead blasted Ti, but everyone has different tastes. So my ears are always open and I appreciate the feedback.

I actually really like the blade finish, I think it works well with the rest of the knife and actually kind of makes it look more high end, and I appreciate the texture it adds.

The only thing holding me up is the cost of the knife in relation to the country of origin. That being said, everything you make looks really good and the designs are great. The Coffin handled one almost pryed loose my purse strings. I still think about it.

Not that I wouldn't buy a Chinese knife, just hard to spend that kind of money on one, it's a mental block. I understand that it's possible to have a high end product with high end materials and flawless fit and finish made in China, and there are lots of newer top tier knives coming out of China. It's just a hangup of mine, it's my flaw, not yours.

I think a line of knives in something like VG10 or even 440 or AUS8, with your designs and cheaper handle materials would sell like hot cakes for a lower price. But, I could understand the viewpoint of how someone offering a premium product wouldn't want to dilute their brand with cheaper versions.

Everything you do looks great, and it's working for you, keep it up!

Fellas! After what felt like forever, I have this project back on track. I am more excited and motivated then ever before!

Since the last thread about my project became long in the tooth, I decided to start a new one. If you are interested, the previous thread can be found here: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/jack-wolf-knives-the-wolf-den.1787328/

New prototypes are rolling in and they look and feel amazing. These are from my new manufacturer, the name of which I agreed not to disclose. No promises yet but I am aiming to start sales at or before Blade Show in June. Thanks for your patience! 🐺

Here is the revised prototype for the Little Bro Jack in Black Micarta. This slipjoint knife has a closed length of 3.5” (90mm), and features a hollow ground, swoopy clip point blade that is 2.7” (68mm). The fluted bolsters and liners are integral titanium. I am happy to answer any questions you may have. -Ben

I love how stout the blade looks in the 9th picture!

I love modern traditionals and have had your blades on my radar for several months now. Very nice designs but I can’t do them based upon where they are made. For me, it’s all about the poor working conditions, lack of worker rights, and low wages. Any chance of working with an Italian manufacturer? That would change everything for me.

These knives look great! I've been tempted to get one for a while. Any chance you all will ever use wood covers instead of micarta? A nice cocobola would be great.
- entirely agree. Have been banging on about this to Ben - I sound like a stuck record.

Some of these covers are really cool if you pick n choose. Working with these manmade materials, is, by far, easier on QC and production, so understand the reasoning.

The other possible consideration, imho, is these covers are machined to very exact thickness - thin-ness - and natural materials may not be so tolerant.

A very slightly thicker cover - 1mm at the edge - in Desert Ironwood, or other wood that doesn't need stabilising...........well, that'd just be 🥰

Finally got my hands on one. I think these are really well built. The M390 was difficult to sharpen but that was expected. I'm interested to carry it the next few weeks.
- very nice too. I missed out on the Cyborg Jack, but am in for one of the new Big Bro Jacks end of this week.

Get the correct angle, the M390 sharpens up very quickly........not a brilliantly consistent edge with that steel, but good enough for general use and gentac carry.!

Look forward to hearing what you have to say

Any idea when this pattern will be coming back?

My Big Bro Jack Arrived and it exceeded my expectations. To start off the presentation was outstanding with the tube and all the goodies including a really nice leather slip. Even the box with a little history about Ben’s Grandfather Jack Wolf Belkin. The blade is razor sharp with a nice symmetrical grind. The blade is perfectly flush at the half stop and all positions at the back strap. The Micarta is flush and even at the Bolsters. Fit and finish all the way around is outstanding.
Yes this one definitely checks all the boxes and feels great in hand to with wonderful walk and talk. I’d say the pull is a high 7 to a 8 which I like especially with the blade being able to pinch open. The hardware is nice and beefy to!
Thank you Ben for this beautiful offering and I’m sure I’ll be adding more to my modest collection .
It’s going in my pocket tomorrow no doubt.

Ordered one of the Feelgood Jacks. Look forward to its arrival. I met Ben, got to chat and see protos a few Blade Shows ago. Have been rooting for he and the company's success.

I've been thinking about getting a feel good jack too. You'll have to let me know what you think of it.

I like the Feelgood Jack a lot, Mr. S. Carried it much of the last week. Totes well in accompanying slip in shorts pocket. Feels good in hand, carbon fiber is cool, super slicer (so far as modern slip joints go). Strong pull, pinchable. Last pic is comparing the Feelgood's size and sheepfoot to GEC 15.

Javelina (sowbelly) just arrived today, only added some mineral oil to the micarta. These are both really high quality, come with slips and other stuff in the tube. Plenty of youtube videos of each.

I finally decided to pull the tigger on a coffin jack after years of wanting to give one a try. They are currently on sale 20% off at many dealers this week.

I took advantage of some sponsored dealers sale to finally order a Little Bro in nebula fat carbon. The price seemed agreeable at last, haha.

Might have to check out the new little fixed blade coming out, it looks pretty cool.
