Nice one! I didn't know they made one that thin (is it three layers?) with a magnifying glass. I think the only SAK I have with a magnifying glass is a 7- or 8-layer pocket brick that belonged to my dad.

I gave an Explorer to my friend's boy last year, the magnifying glass is his favourite feature!

The "new" version of the magnifying glass looks a lot slimmer than the old one.

I carried this knife for over a year I liked it so much when I got it. Got it used here for like 20 bucks or something. I can’t remember now. Came as a pair with a larger 4” matching one I gave to a pal. Haven’t picked it up in almost a year and have it back in my pocket today. Kinda random I guess. Not a real thrilling custom...but one of my favorites

I guess they redesigned it a while back. I thought that the new one (which has a translucent plastic housing instead of the grey plastic) looked slimmer in the photos I saw on the Victorinox website, but in this closeup comparison photo it looks like it’s the same thickness. Bigger lens, though.

Yes the Alpineer is a 3-Layer. It used to go to grade school with me when such things weren’t frowned upon.
