I have no idea who he actually is but yesterday he called my house three times(2 messages,1 call trying to talk down to my Wife when she told him he'd have to discuss this with me) accusing me of stealing his designs. His website says he has been making knives for 5 years and my designs in question pre date his even making knives. Add to that the point of having not met him and I really get concerned over how I am stealing from him. He also left veiled threats on my machine about knowing SEALS and CIA types. I did a search of his name and somewhere back in 2009 I helped a guy with a post of Jeffs website I found via Google but other that, I have had no contact with him. He did call late at night and threatened my wife with legal action because he is "gonna get patents and copyrights on his designs". I left a message on his machine today telling him to well........"something" off and to not contact me anymore. In one of his messages he said he has a knife on Man, Woman, Wild but I don't know if that is true or not. I got a giggle out of his saying "we could work something out" as if I am going to pay him for knives I designed. Just wanted to give a heads up on this guy. If he has called other makers I would be interested in knowing that too.
 
Just looked at his website, so he makes 4 types of basic blades. If anyone can make a claim to their designs, I'd say it be some smiths in SE Asia.

Strange how the ones who are so "god fearing" on their websites turn out to be the biggest A-holes and nutjobs.

I doubt you'll be losing any business to him Bill, but him harassing your wife is seriously wrong.

LOL If only the world worked that way. I'm still trying to get GE to compensate me for Edison stealing my lightbulb design ninety years before I was born. I'm in the process of pursuing a patent...

I also enjoy his belief that men (fictitious though they are) with high-level government security clearances are going to go rough somebody up as a favor to him...probably in exchange for some of his "high speed" knives.
 
Wait a minute!!! I just looked at his website and he's copied MY designs---I came up with having handles on knives! I know some werewolf leprechauns (my friends are just as real as his) who may pay him a visit.
 
I've actually done that on some Busses before--my lanyards are only big enough to go around one finger for retention, and it works pretty well. I'd rather that not be my ONLY choice, though.

Yeah, but that was originally MY idea! I'm working on getting it patented, right after I get my patent for inventing shoes!

I think elves from a childrens story have already patented shoes, you could however trademark the laces and stick it to those dirty elves.

To the OP my guess is its a scam. The minute some starts saying "we can work things out" means there looking for hush money. But since he clearly has nothing to go off of he is trying to scare you into forking over cash. Tell him when he calls again that you have consulted your lawyer and that all future contact must now be made through him, my guess is you will never hear from him again.

I'm sorry for this particular pain in your ass, Bill, but look at the bright side: it could be worse, you could be a delusional twit like Crowner. If you need my Leprewolves, just howl at a rainbow. :)
 
got a kick out of this one. bill I have heard of you but not of that Jeff crowner guy.....I guess some folks are a little misguided, not appropriate to call your house late, threaten, or put your wife in the middle of his nonsense.

Thanks for the support and the laughs.......leprewolves? They sound scary! I will keep them in mind if needed. Of course I will forward the licensing payment should I actually use them :) I did get a message on the machine from him today with a " sorry if I offended. That wasn't what I meant". Along with notice that I owe him an apology for leaving my message because he was offended by my colorful language. Well I didn't invite him into my world, he barged in uninvited. Tough if he can't handle my tone. I tend to take being called a thief a little personal.

He's offended after spouting off to your wife, and leaving multiple messages? :eek::confused:

It might not be a bad idea to post up the addresses and phone numbers found on his site, so people can avoid dealing with this kind of stuff.
 
Sounds like somebody with an impulse control problem, mixed with the aforementioned delusions. I knew a guy sort of like that in high school, you'd ask him, "Why did you do (or say) _______?" And he'd say he didn't know, and you pretty much genuinely believed that he didn't know.

Nice looking blades but the design is common in Philippine bolos. The bowie looked like a nicer finished RTAK.

Bill this world is full of POS's that are taking up air.Even an idiot like him should be able to see all of your designs are your own. I own 4 of your knives and they are all hardcore hard use bad ass blades.This POS is just trying to get some sort of recognition for all of YOUR work! Best wishes,

Someone needs to tell him if you stand on the highway eventually you will get hit by a truck. Be sure and let him know if he makes any more personal threats involving US Navy Personnel that you know someone that would like to know more about that. I'd be happy to make some calls on your behalf if necessary.
 
I am saddened by this thread. I know both Bill and Jeff and they are both good people. Both Bill & Jeff are ex-military and have a passion for making hard use survival and camp knives. I suspect if they had met under different circumstances they might have been friends.

Tuf, posting a photo of Jeff and his wife without permission is not cool.

Everyone who posts or spouts bullshit without knowing both guys needs to STFU. It is one thing to post "I know Bill, he is a good guy who makes great knives." It is wrong to say I don't know Jeff but he is .....

I've talked to both Bill & Jeff today and I think they are both going to drop this issue.
