Jerry, you have some competition!

welcome to the busse forum Dan, i see this is your second post, you related to the busse clan?

wait till you get to talk to jerry first hand, he's quite the man

.

Unless I am mistaken, Dan Busse is Jerry's brother, and runs Scrap Yard.
Please forgive me if I am wrong.

Doh...beat me to it.

this one is gonna be coooool!!!!

I can't afford an FBM, but I can afford 2 Dog Fathers, and I get Res-C handles to boot!

What's not to love about it?

I'm pretty sure INFI isn't tougher. It is harder and more abrasion- resistant, and probably holds a better edge under most circumstances, but in terms of toughness, i.e. resistance to failure from sudden loads, S-7 is among the very best steels in existence, having been engineered specifically for toughness. To the extent that the steel in the Dogfather shares the parent steel's characteristics, it should outclass INFI in that respect.

I think I'll be ordering one (or two). But, for goodness sake, can it be sharp?

Ditto! I will be buying one of these...at least one. I don't think for a second my Two FBM's could bend like that without snapping, however they are tough, and will not break under severe abuse.

Hi DreamHawk,

Keep your eyes to the Scrap Yard forum (scrapyardknives.com) for Dan's "24 Hour Warning" post. It's not available, yet, but should be this week, sometime. Hopefully. :D

Are you sure about that? S7 is among the toughest steels in the world,. However, whereas, the Dogfather cut 300 slices of rope and shaved hair, the Basic9 cut almost 3,000 pieces with no degradation and it's not as good as INFI. So you can see the difference in wear just by that sample. The DF may be as tough but INFI will still be the leader in wear resistance, edge strength and corrosion resistance as well as lateral strength which is different than toughness.

Remember the AK test?

Here is a SHBM being bent by someone and I cannot remember whose knife this is

cobalt you make a great point, about the fact that the edge will hold up bettler on INFI, as you can see chipping on the DF. And I never saw the AK pics. If I could only have one it would be INFI, most of the time you get what you pay for. I have bent one of my SHBM's at about that angle and it returned to true.

The Dog Father may be a very good value-for-money knife but, I think that overall INFI is still the king of the hill! To me when we are talking about knives we need to take more factors into consideration than the ability of any blade to bend: push cutting, slicing, chopping, ease of re-sharpening etc. just to name a few.

OK, like what?
