JK Knives Passaround Review Thread

sounds like a great review T... can't wait to see some of your pics...

i recently scored a 3.5 in. mini kephart from john.... i love it..

Hey Fellas, wanted to drop in and let everyone know that I have the knives, and am almost done playin. First impression is that they are all very solid little fellas. I like the mini Kephart and the Hikers back up. The edc bushcrafter's handle was not right for my hands. It falls between a 3 and 4 fingure handle and doesn't fit comfortably. The HB has a perfect 3 finger handle which works for that size knife. Will finish with pics later.

Let's hope explorer doesn't shut down again. 80% done and pooff, gone.
Thanks bear and JK for putting this together. These are great little knives. I personally prefer the handle on the HBU over the EDC. It's a perfect 3 finger grip for me. The EDC is just between 3 and 4 and is not as comfortable. When in use the difference is not as noticable to me. I found the tip of the knives to be a bit thick. I would like a bit more taper to the tip. Being as thick as they are, they are going to be bomb proof, but they didn't drill as well as many other knives I have, because of the thickness. The handle of the kephart is great. You can put lot's of torgue onto the blade with that palm filler. All the sheaths are very sturdy and I would expect to last a very long time.
For some reason I can't find the pics of the Kephart, but I used it in the kitchen. The blade was a bit short for larger kitchen tasks, but that is to be expected. The kephart is an awesome little bushcrafter. That is it's strong area. The smaller knives I used to make a trigger. I'm a huge fan of a convexed blade, so I would reprofile the edge. They do have a nice flat grind and cutting geometry to all the blades. I've just convexed all my knives for the last 20 years and don't even own stones anymore. Putting this up now, so as not to lose it.

For some reason internet explorer keeps shutting on me you friggin piece of #$@!%^$#%%^% and !@$%#%#%#

Ok let's try and get some pics up. comparison shot first.

I was thinking that just a slight trimming of the "beak" at the back of the handle would make this one universally "comfy" for about any hand, even with its original length. The size and length are both good but I think the point on the handle is picked up via tactile feedback ("noticed") and gives the sens of making it not fit. Easy mod for anyone who felt that way and I believe I noticed it too.

I convexed my JK Hiker - I just don't work well with secondary bevels, maybe it's a handicap - I know many get along fine with them but the Hiker with the convex and polished, yoweee!!

Once again, sorry for the delay. I can honestly say that I would recommend any of these knives with full confidence. The Handle on the EDC was not quite right for me, but will be perfect for many others. It may be my ladies gift this holiday. The kephart and the Hikers backup are great blades that are now on the to get list. The knives are headed to Anthony Montedo now. Lot's of fun. :D

Very nice review, thanks! I wish I could take decent pictures, mine always look like something my 4 year old granddaughter did with crayons!
