Joel Chamblin: Custom Knives

Wow. I love whittlers and that one pretty much takes the cake. What the heck it takes the ice-cream too. :)

Congratulations on what I am sure is an outstanding knife that is way better than it's pictures in every way.

Nice :)

Thank you all, here are a few more pics. The fit and finish of this knife is impeccable.

Not sure if this belongs in the traditional forums so mods please move if not appropriate. But considering Joel Chamblin is one of the best traditional makers of our time, and this being an homage from one of the best traditional and non-traditional makers ever, Jess Horn, I figure it might belong...

Specs:

Knife: Joel Chamblin's 'Jess Horn SM Fighter'
Closed Length: 4.75"
Blade Steel: CPM 154
Bolsters: 416SS
Liners: 410SS
Handle Material: Sheffield Antique Linear Paper Micarta

Knife is superb and I had originally bought it with this micarta with intentions of using it, but i'll need to get beyond the honeymoon phase first as it's just too purty. Once [if] I get over that hump it'll be off to Paul Long for a pocket clip...

This isn't my first time working with Joel, and as always, he was an absolute pleasure to work with. I'll also add that his current wait list is quite short so any ideas you may have floating in your head should be given his consideration as his prices are quite reasonable. He is also willing to utilize carbon steel such as 1095 for another possible project I talked to him about.

Now for the (amateur) pictures... :D

Thanks for looking!

That's a beautiful knife, Eric. A worthy tribute by Joel for one of Jess Horn's classics. Looks ok here to me.

Thanks, Brad. Let's see if I can do this on my 7" tablet. My PC decided not to boot up yesterday.

I like it very much - on sundays it can be my EDC . Closed length is 3 1/8 inch and the scales are preban ivory. What do you think ?

Well, it's nice and all, Kris, but how well does it cut roofing shingles??

Great knife, outstanding in every way!

I guess more scared as the roofing shingles should be the tip of the cigars , or ??

Thanks for the compliment - for the maker !

It's a great looking knife Stefan. I love the work on the scales and the bolsters, not often seen. I also like the small bolsters reminding older knives.
And I am sure it can cut :)

Those peanuts are beauties! I really have a liking for smaller knives.

Sometimes I have the impression, that Joel has a special relation to small folders a n d to folders with small blades, like this one : closed length is 3 1/2 inch and the longest blade is just under 2 inch.
And I like the black MOP scales !!
