JPrime84's Build-A-Knife GIVE AWAY! - Winner selected in post 87 !

Quick update - I have the new stainless pins and bar stock in. I hope that I can get back into it this weekend. I was out of town last weekend, and work has been a bit crazy! Sorry for the delays Ron, I have not forgotten about you!

Ron - Belated congratulations, you are a worthy recipient of Jeff's creation! Lots of BF readers making mammoth Barlows for other BF readers lately, I'm having to fight some serious envy here. :p

Jeff - I am going to be watching your work with great interest. You've already answered a couple questions I had about the process, and the photos are the perfect thing to inspire confidence. I appreciate the audiovisual granularity you've provided so far and I look forward to the rest of the progress.

TsarBomba - Thank you so much for the kind words. :) There are truly some very beautiful creations showing up on the Porch lately.

Finally getting back to this! Today I cut some pieces for the bolsters, drilled all the construction holes, got the bolsters soldered, and epoxied the mammoth.

The slabs are really thin so I pray it all holds together during sanding and buffing.

Got back to it. Basic assembly done and I got started shaping it - still a long ways to go.

That's coming together nicely!

Bad news everyone. Of the mammoth bark pieces I had, two were large enough to fit the Barlow. While sanding today, it caught at a weird angle and ripped one of them in half.

Ron I hate to have to ask, but what's your second choice for cover material?

Oh man- that's hard luck there. I thought only this sort of thing happened to me😖

It was looking great- t just shows that whatever the scale the knife is going to come out great- Jeff second time around you will really know the "feel" of this knife!

Jeff sorry to hear and see this happen. I think my 2nd choice would be Ebony. Thanks for all your hard work and efforts on this project.

Ugh...
I know that must've felt really bad, but the whole thread has been educational for me.
